Ep 19 Jason Akermanis "WE HEAR YOUR PRETTY QUICK"

Ep 19 Jason Akermanis "WE HEAR YOUR PRETTY QUICK"

Welcome to this episode of Just Havin a Crack with Jason Akermanis.

    WE HEAR YOUR PRETTY QUICK

Jason is an AFL legend, playing over 320 games, 3 Premierships with the Brisbane Lions, Brownlow Medial Winner and Four-time all Australian.

Aker was best known for his openness in the press, speed across the ground like no other and off course handstands after winning home games.

Behind all this was a kid growing up with not a lot, a hard-working mother that didn't have a lot of time to spend at home. It was Aker and one of his brothers Rory who formed an incredibly close bond.

Aker fought for everything, nothing came to Aker cheaply. No handouts, no help.

Growing up and being hyperactive Aker turned to sport as his way of managing himself. Cricket, AFL and Athletics.

This story and the more we got to know Aker became larger and more powerful. You see underneath everything is a deep-thinking, empathetic and fiercely loyal proud man.

In someway Aker needed to have this journey to get him to where he is in life now.

Aker owns everything, there is no running away.

William Wong - Yoga the Wong Way

William Wong - Yoga the Wong Way
William Wong is a Melbourne based Yoga teacher with a passion for functional movement, gymnastics, Qi Gong, Reiki and sound healing. He has the wonderfully named Instagram profile Willy Wongka, and the equally wonderfully named website yogathewongway.com. William has a very strong practice but is equally committed to the more subtle aspects of yoga and meditation, and projects a welcoming and often hilarious sense of humour in his teaching and his online presence, so we were very excited to have the chance to speak with him recently. In this episode, we learn about William's background growing up in Melbourne, how he studied landscape architecture for 6 years before deciding it wasn't for him. We learn how he discovered fitness and yoga after a stint as a Flight Attendant. We learn how William's teaching and practice have evolved and how he has learned from and managed injuries along the way. We love William's light-hearted approach and deep dedication to these practices and we think you'll really enjoy this conversation! Thoughts on Reflection with Will Brown

Thoughts on Reflection with Will Brown

Today in our thoughts on series we pick up on the concept of reflection spoken about in our time with Ron Kauk and a strong theme amongst all those we are meeting. Taking time to look at your past, present and future honestly and without judgement. The latter part being a real challenge as we, that is movers tend to be quite alpha in personality and want to constantly make progress.

The purpose of reflection is to turn around, look how far we have come and take that forward. So we speak to an ascendant movement specialist Wil Brown. First spotted him on insta as I was working out handstands and things and he was heading to Australia to explore movement culture. Its been great to hang out a few time with Wil, incredibly accomplished already in his early twenties and yet super humble with an enormous appetite to learn.

NO surprise and also quite surprising for his age, he uses the process of reflection during his coaching sessions and for his personal development to integrate the thoughts and emotions with the physical practice.
