Ep137 - Bears blitz Quins in seven-try rout at the Gate

Ep137 - Bears blitz Quins in seven-try rout at the Gate

It may have been a Sunday service, but there was nothing Godly about the rugby filth on show as Bristol backed up last week's big win with a another try fiesta to beat Harlequins 51-26.

Memories of the 'Bristanbul' semi final defeat to Quins are starting to fade as Bristol completed the double on the fancy dans from South West London.

Hear our thoughts on the game, player performances and what has happened to turn our team into contenders for a top half finish and perhaps even more.

On the minus side we also discuss England's humiliation at home to France in the Six Nations and discuss the performances of Sinckler and Captain Genge.

There's also the return of Gets My Goat, with not one but two things that have got us miffed this week.

All this and more with TC, Lee, Miles and Pete.

Ep136 - Rampant Bears stun Saints 62-8 in record win

Ep136 - Rampant Bears stun Saints 62-8 in record win

Hell yeah. After a very long wait we finally got to see a full 80-minute performance from the Bears as they dismantled Northampton by nine tries to one.

Hear our thoughts on the game, player performances and the sheer joy of Friday night after a long and fairly bleak winter.

We'll also look ahead to the next game against Harlequins on Sunday and discuss the departures of Andy Uren and Sam Bedlow next season.

All this and more with TC, Pete and Miles.

Ep129 - Bears hold on by a fingertip to victory at the Stoop

Ep129 - Bears hold on by a fingertip to victory at the Stoop

In this week’s show the boys discuss the dramatic victory at the Stoop that brought a much needed league victory. Hear our thoughts on THAT tap tackle and the Marler/Heenan incident.

We also look ahead to the next game away at Brentford with Jerry Brown, chair of the London Irish supporters association.

All this and more with Tony, Miles and Pete.

Ep128 - Two euro wins on the trot as Bears beat Zebre at the Gate

Ep128 - Two euro wins on the trot as Bears beat Zebre at the Gate

In this episode the boys discuss the 35-19 win against Parma Zebre that leaves the Bears undefeated in Europe this season.  Two early gift-wrapped tries gave us momentum in a game played at a wet and chilly Ashton Gate.

We also look forward to the re planned game on 27 December. New venue and a new kickoff time. We speak to our friends at the  Harlequins Podcast and get their thoughts on the match and the likely result.

All this and more with Tony, Miles and Pete on an online recording. We’ll be back in 2023 but until then have a merry Christmas.

Ep104 - Bears lose latest shoot out with Quins and a Saracens preview

Ep104 - Bears lose latest shoot out with Quins and a Saracens preview

Recorded right after the game the boys discuss the disappointing 29-38 loss to Saracens at Ashton Gate on Sunday. Having conceded 14 points in the first 3 minutes the boys showed a lot of heart to battle back into the game but ultimately fell short... again.

We discuss the individual performances and look at some of the key moments in the game.

There's also our preview of the forthcoming games against Bath and Saracens, a discussion on new signing Magnus Bradbury and our thoughts on Randall and Sinckler's performances for England against Ireland.

Ep103 - Siva sees red as we lose in Bath, new injury cover and a Quins preview

Ep103 - Siva sees red as we lose in Bath, new injury cover and a Quins preview

Once again this season we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. After a flying start at arch rivals Bath a red card, there yellows and some poor decision making see the Bears fall to a 29-27 defeat in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

We try to make sense of this crazy game and give our thoughts on individual performances.

We once again speak to Will at The Harlequins Podcast about the reigning champions visit to Ashton Gate next Sunday. He's confident that Quins will win and after Saturday's debacle lets hope Bristol bounce back and show us what they can do.

We also discuss the injury-cover arrival of another scrum half, plus a fullback and tight head prop. There's news of the Bears A game against the Navy and discuss the decision to reject Donny and Ealing's application to join the Premiership. Some mixed views in the studio on that one!

All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.

Ep84 - Not again! Bears give up big lead in defeat to Quins and a Falcons preview.

Ep84 - Not again! Bears give up big lead in defeat to Quins and a Falcons preview.

In this week's show we try and put on a brave face as we discuss the 52-24 defeat away at Harlequins. It was just like last season's semi-final. Bristol scored with ease in the first period and were then blown away by Quins in the second half.

We ask what went wrong and how much scope does Pat have to fix things in the short-term. At least the women's team shone a light this weekend with an impressive victory at Harlequins and sit top of the table with five wins from five.

There's also Pete's Premiership Preview as we look forward to the next match with our friends from the Folk on Falcons podcast. We speculate on the selection choices to be made for the game at Newcastle.

We also lament the passing of the programme with 7 out of 13 clubs halting production of paper publications this year. We ask listeners what they think - time to go fully digital or keep the printed programme going.

All this and more on the show with Tony, Lee and Pete.

    Xenos: Necrons

    Xenos: Necrons

The soulless, mindless rabble of mass infantry of robots would not be in the Warhammer 40,000 universe without the presence of a Star-God tricking the original humanoid creatures into a deal that would cause such anger. After being blazed by their Sun on a planet where there was little shelter from the radiation, the Necrontyr made a deal with the Star-God to make them immortal, which forever bound their souls into metal and caused them to lose all of the humanity they once had.

In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details on his Necron force, and where the collection is at the moment, as this army isn't playable in Horus Heresy he talks through the models that he collected for Necrons for the 7th Edition of Warhammer 40,000, but he does mention that as we have a copy of the fan-made rules he may venture in to this army again!

    Xenos: Aeldari

    Xenos: Aeldari

Who doesn't love the checkered patterns on the Players from the xenos race known as the Harlequins? They fly through the enemy lines quicker than speed of light, being able to disable the enemy force before they know that they are under attack. Whilst their number is few, it is typical that they are fewer in number than a Legion of Space Marines, they still are able to identify the key weaknesses and deconstruct the enemy.

In this weeks Podcast Smaugonite goes into details on his Aeldari force, and where the collection is at the moment, as this army isn't playable in Horus Heresy he talks through the models that he collected for Harlequins, Eldar and Dark Eldar for the 7th Edition of Warhammer 40,000! We do also have a fan-made set of Eldar Rules that Smaugonite didn't mention, but it has allowed us to look at the prospect of taking this army in games of the Horus Heresy!

Ep78 - Semi final heartbreak as Bristol Bears squander big lead against Quins

Ep78 - Semi final heartbreak as Bristol Bears squander big lead against Quins

In this week's show emotions are still a bit raw as we discuss the semi final defeat at home against Harlequins. How did we manage to let slip a 28 point lead on the brink of halftime and end up losing 36-43 after extra time.

For the neutral (and Quins fans) possibly one of the greatest Premiership games of all time, but for Bears fans nothing but heartbreak being so close to our first Premiership final.

We talk selection, tactics and game management as we review this epic game. There's also a pet hate that raised its head again on Saturday, featuring in our 'Gets My Goat' section.

All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.

Ep77 - Bristol Bears clinch top spot after Irish no-show and facing Quins in the playoffs

Ep77 - Bristol Bears clinch top spot after Irish no-show and facing Quins in the playoffs

The regular season is over and we've finished top of the pile without playing a game this weekend. Our round 22 fixture against London Irish was cancelled and the four points received guaranteed a top finish for Pat and the boys.

We discuss how the cancellation might affect preparations for next week, especially after witnessing the bruising encounter between Exeter and Sale at Sandy Park. Who will Pat pick and what type of threat do Quins offer. We discuss the semi-final matchup with our friends from the Harlequins Podcast.

We also round up with our thoughts on the recently announced retained list and comment on Saracens 60-0 demolition of Ealing in the first leg of the Championship playoff final.

All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.

Ep66 - Bears snatch late win against Quins and a look ahead to the trip to Bordeaux

Ep66 - Bears snatch late win against Quins and a look ahead to the trip to Bordeaux

It was another dramatic late finish for the Bears to score two tries in the final five minutes to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. A cracking game of rugby and we discuss the performances, tactics and other talking points from the 35-33 win at Ashton gate. A win that sees us extend our lead at the top of the table to 12 points. yes that's TWELVE points!

We are also joined be Veronique from The French Rugby Connections Podcast for our preview of the Champions Cup game in Bordeaux. We get the French perspective as well as talking about Pat's options for this must-win game.

All this and more on this week's show.

Ep65 - It was the late, late show at Franklin's Gardens as Bristol Bears win again

Ep65 - It was the late, late show at Franklin's Gardens as Bristol Bears win again

In this week's show we reflect on Bristol's late comeback to beat Northampton Saints 21-28 at the Gardens to pick up another five-point win. It didn't look like it was going to be our day but with two tries in the last six minutes Bristol keep top spot in the league with a healthy seven-point lead over Exeter. We discuss the game, the tactics and the individual performances that stood out for us.

Later in the show we talk to Will and Michael Wood from 'A Harlequins Podcast' for their views on next week's visitors to the Gate. Hear how Quins fortunes have changed this season and who to keep a look out for on Saturday.

All this and more in this week's episode with the gentle buzz of a police helicopter in the background. Little did we know that as we were recording on Sunday night, Bristol city centre was the scene of some violent rioting.

Ep54 - Bears take maximum points from The Stoop and get ready for Falcons test.

Ep54 - Bears take maximum points from The Stoop and get ready for Falcons test.

In this week's show we review Bristol Bears 27-19 win away against Harlequins. Once again it needed a marked improvement in the second half to claim the five points and our first league win at The Stoop in nearly 20 years.

We look forward to the home game against Newcastle on New Year’s Day with a little help from our friends at the Folk on Falcons podcast. How do Newcastle play, who to look out for and why they’ve made a good start to the season.

We also talk about the 2,000 tickets we might have had for New Year’s Day and ask if the policy of refunds to season card holders and a then flat ticket price of £35 is fair.

    All this and more...

Ep53 - Bristol Bears take five points from Irish trip and prepare for Boxing Day clash

Ep53 - Bristol Bears take five points from Irish trip and prepare for Boxing Day clash

In this show we talk about Bristol's 27-18 win away at Connacht in the Champions Cup. After a dull, error-strewn first 40 minutes the Bears stepped up a gear to bag a bonus-point win against Pat Lam's former employers.

We discuss what this win means for our European campaign on a weekend where several games were forfeited by teams unable to play due to COVID-19 infections.

We also look ahead to the Boxing Day fixture at The Stoop and talk to Quins fans about their form, the players to watch out for and how they think the game will go.

There's also news on the Championship restart, our new Argentinian signing and the 'now you see them, now you don't' European shirts in the club shop.

All this and more with Lee, Miles, Pete and Tony.
