    As we learn more about the effectiveness of Vaccines and the health effects of Long Covid-19, it becomes clearer that we do not want our loved ones to be exposed to this virus. Getting Vaccinated not only protects you but it also protects your loved ones and community.

    Monica Limón serves as a Program Manager at NALCAB, where she is responsible for providing support and oversight for the organization’s Federal Programs and initiatives. As a passionate Latina, Monica’s personal and professional commitment is to build long-term, economic, social, and health focused upward mobility in communities of color and women in general.

    Her career has encompassed many fields, including university outreach and recruiting, graduate writing services, commercial and residential development, large-scale agricultural operations, information technology, and environmental justice.

    Monica’s professional portfolio includes the installation of the first set(s) of electric volt charging stations in Clovis, CA, the development of a lucrative and self-sustainable IT maintenance plan, coordination and strategic planning of the first-ever multi-agency roundtable with the City of Fresno. Paycheck Protection Program. Monica additionally has ample experience in event planning, recruiting, financial and accounting management, client relations, and strategic planning.

    Originally hailing from the San Joaquin Valley in California, Monica holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Language & Literature from Fresno State University.

    A Series Highlighting Members of the COVIDLATINO Project: Tanya Jeanette Alderete, Medical Student

    HealthCare UnTold continues its series highlighting members of the COVIDLATINO project. Today's guest is Tanya Jeanette Alderete.

    Tanya, currently a medical student at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara School of Medicine, is completing her third-year medical rotations in Phoenix, Arizona where she was born and raised.  

    During the height of the COVID pandemic, Ms. Alderete conducted research at the St. Vincent de Paul Virginia G. Piper Medical & Dental (SVdP) Clinic, a free clinic in downtown Phoenix that historically has treated a population that is predominantly undocumented immigrants. The SVdP clinic partnered with CVS and the National Association of Free Clinics to provide free rapid COVID tests to underserved individuals.  

    Tanya joined the social media team of the COVID Latino Project with the goal of helping debunk COVID myths among the Latinx community and to disseminate accurate information regarding the COVID virus and the COVID vaccines. Ms. Alderete led the relaunch campaign of the COVID Latino Project to ensure that all the content created was shared in an effective manner.  

    HealthCare UnTold again recognizes the COVIDLATINO project and its volunteers like Tanya who have made such a difference to the Latino Community during the Covid-19 pandemic by providing accurate information regarding the virus and vaccines.

    Today’s guest on HealthCare UnTold is Lalo Alcaraz who Is the most influential Latino political cartoonist in our country. Best known for being the creator of "La Cucaracha", the first nationally syndicated, politically-themed Latino daily comic strip, Lalo has joined forces with the CovidLatino.org project as lead artist to use his artistic powers to help educate the Latino community about Covid-19 and the importance and protective power of vaccines.

    The COVIDLATINO.org project provides critical information on COVID-19 vaccines and testing for Latinx communities across the U.S. with a focus on the Southwest. This project brings together a collective of academic institutions, community-based organizations, researchers, advocates, and artists.to create culturally-tailored and empirically-based COVID-19 information that is relevant and timely. HealthCare Untold celebrates Lalo  Alcaraz for using his great artistry to help educate and protect the Latino community during the Covid-19 pandemic.
