    Are Companies Really Hiring? (#158)

    Are Companies Really Hiring? (#158)

    Are Companies Really Hiring?
Seriously. Are they? I've gotten so many questions from listeners and coaching students alike - I think it's time to solve this mystery.

You see the 'Help Wanted' signs in the window or the job postings online - so you know companies are looking for employees. But why is it when you apply, you hear nothing back? Even if you follow up, you're given no information that can actually help you progress to the interview process. In today's episode, we're going to talk about why this experience seems so common lately, and what you can do about it.

    Chapters
    [02:22]
You see hiring signs, but you're not hearing back after submitting your application.

    [04:25]
Don't let a lack of response get you down. You should work for a company that WANTS you!

    [07:19]
If you work in a leadership role at your company, make sure you share this feedback with your management team. This behavior can deter people from applying.

    [09:36]
FOLLOW UP! Phone call, or email, or even an in-person visit. If it's a place you can get a product or service, stop in and ask while you shop.

    [12:09]
When you follow up, you're helping yourself no matter what. If this helps you along, you're closer to your interview. If they display signs that they're hesitant or not interested, you know you can look elsewhere for work.

Unemployment Benefits - Helping or Hurting the Problem?

Unemployment Benefits - Helping or Hurting the Problem?

#021 Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of people lost their jobs. The government tried to help by providing a supplement to traditional unemployment. But this has led to an unintended consequence today, plenty of jobs, but not enough people to fill them. In this episode I discuss how this problem is affecting people who have a need for the benefits, as well as employers who need employees to stay afloat.
