My guest this week is Linda Gibbons, a woman who has spent 11 years behind bars for offering her silent witness and prayers in front of abortion clinics. There are children in Canada—perhaps as many as 100—who are alive today because Linda was there on the sidewalk in front of the abortion clinic doors, reminding women about the sacred lives of the preborn babies they are carrying. Linda has also witnessed for Christ and prayed for women in the maximum-security prison where she has been repeatedly incarcerated.

Vanessa Djian, productrice Daï Daï films et Karolyne Leibovici, pubicist à la tête de l’agence A & K Communication, ont lancé il y a 4 ans Girls support Girls, un collectif devenu label dédié au « réseautage » entre femmes de l'industrie de l'audiovisuel et du cinéma.
L’initiative ne relève pas d’un féminisme militant, mais d’une évolution logique de l’époque :« La plupart des projets ambitieux se font moins avec les femmes. Même si c’est en train de changer, nous tenons à accompagner ce mouvement. » dixit Vanessa Djian
Karolyne Leibovici dirige A&K Communication, un bureau de conseils spécialisé dans la gestion des relations presse & image de talents (comédiens, chanteurs) ; mais aussi en charge des relations presse et publiques de nombreux évènements.
Vanessa Djian est productrice de films avec son agence DaïDaï Films, elle a notamment travaillé avec Alain Goldman / Legende sur les films la French, Edmond, Nevada & et auprès de grands réalisateurs Fred Cavayé, Clint Eatswood (en France) ou Christopher Nolan.
C'est sous le format d'un dîner trimestriel qu'elles rassemblent les femmes pour créer des synergies communes et afin de leur permettre d'être mieux représentées au cinéma, dans les séries et en production.
Ce qu'elles nous dévoilent ici, c'est qu'à chacun de ces dîners, la magie opére....
Ce sont des connexions qu'elles n'imaginaient pas et même des projets qui émergent.

My African cliche of the day is a duty, what I could call "the duty of curiosity", a kind of minimum service that each African and Afro-descendant must perform, to help himself, and help to to make known a counter history of Africa. Being curious about Africa, for example, is going to visit a pretty beach in Mozambique, rather than Ireland; it is trying to understand pre-colonial African spiritualities before treating them as fetishes, a term which is justly colonial…. This is why I enjoy the afro-curiosities distilled by Abenafrica every day. And I invite you to be afro-curious too, because as Martin Luther King said "In the end we will not remember the words of our enemies, but rather the silences of our friends". Être curieux au sujet de l’Afrique, c’est par exemple aller visiter une jolie plage au Mozambique, plutôt que l’Irlande ; c’est comprendre les spiritualités africaines précoloniales avant de les traiter de fétiches, un vocable lui justement colonial…. C’est pour cela que je me régale des afro-curiosités distillées par Abenafrica tous les jours. Et je vous invite a vous aussi être afro-curieux. J’espère qu’elles retiendront surtout que les droits dont elles jouissent aujourd’hui ont été acquis au prix des vies de centaines de femmes, pas seulement africaines.
Et justement, pour aller au-delà de ces 4 profils, et aussi pour aller au-delà des experts habituels qui vous expliquent les luttes des femmes africaines chaque année, le 8 Mars dans les médias traditionnels, votre podcast fait la démarche contraire, en donnant la parole à des femmes ordinaires, parlant de leurs conditions, de leurs combats, dans différents pays africains.
