For mangrove jack fishers the Hinchinbrook Channel area is like fishing paradise. Numerous mangrove lined rivers and creeks offer seemingly endless options for throwing lures. Local fishing writer and guide Ben “Westo” Weston reckons jacks are a year-round target at Hinchinbrook and in today’s episode he walks us through what we need to know for targeting the “Red Dog”.

Barramundi might slow down during the winter months, but they don’t go into full hibernation. Fish are there for the taking if you’re prepared to rethink your approach and put in the hours.
