    The Women by Kristin Hannah

    The Women by Kristin Hannah

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah  joins Jane Healey to talk about her new novel, The Women.

From master storyteller Kristin Hannah, bestselling author of The Nightingale and The Four Winds, comes the story of a turbulent, transformative era in America: the 1960s. The Women is that rarest of novels—at once an intimate portrait of a woman coming of age in a dangerous time and an epic tale of a nation divided by war and broken by politics, of a generation both fueled by dreams and lost on the battlefield.

Unleashing the Power of Writing with Guy Morris

Welcome to Michelle’s Inspiration Hour Podcast, where each episode aims to bring you daily inspiration! In this week's episode, we have a very special guest, Guy Morris, who will take us on a thrilling journey through the power of writing and its profound impact on self-discovery and understanding human nature.

As a retired leader with an impressive 36-year career in Fortune 100 software, high-tech, and global energy, Guy Morris brings a unique perspective to the table. But that's not all – he is also a multitalented individual, having worked as a published songwriter for Disney Records, a screenplay writer for Sojourn Entertainment, a patented inventor, a Coast Guard charter captain, a PADI diver & adventurer, and now, an author and publisher of intelligent, well-researched thrillers.

Drawing from his vast and varied experiences, Guy will share how the process of writing has been a transformative tool for him, leading him on a journey of self-knowledge and understanding. Inspired by a quote from George Buhler, he believes that writing allows one to delve into raw experiences and distill them into works of art, making sense out of life itself.

Since his debut as an indie-author in 2021, Guy has released three pulse-pounding thrillers – The Last Ark, Swarm, and The Curse of Cortes. He will give us insights into how he draws inspiration from true stories, actual technologies, global politics, and history to create gripping narratives that keep readers on the edge of their seats.

Join us for an exhilarating conversation with Guy Morris as he unravels the secrets of writing as a powerful means of self-discovery and understanding the world around us. Whether you're an aspiring writer, a fan of thrillers, or someone seeking inspiration, this episode promises to leave you enlightened and motivated to unleash the writer within you!

Sea of Tranquility and When They Lost Their Heads

I review two novels by current Canadian literary stars Emily St. John Mandel and Heather O'Neill. Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel is a science fiction novel about art, time, travel, love and plague that takes readers from 1912 Vancouver Island to a dark colony of the moon 500 years later. The author also incorporates references to her earlier award-winning novels Station Eleven and The Glass Hotel.

When We Lost Our Heads by Heather O'Neill is a historical fiction, satirical novel about 19th-century Montreal. It takes readers into the brutality of factory life and the opulent lives of Montreal’s wealthy while exploring sex, desire and class.
