College honors programs are different than the honors classes that high school students encounter. Forrest Clingerman, director of the Honors Program at Ohio Northern University, and Haley Brown, an honors student also at Ohio Northern University, discuss the ins and outs of college honors programs, including the benefits and experiences they offer, and who should and who shouldn’t consider enrolling in them.

First up in this hour, Lutz Pfannenstiel, Sporting Director for St. Louis City SC, brings insights from the soccer world, reflecting on the team's journey from meticulous planning to achieving the Western Conference title in the regular season, despite a challenging playoff exit by Sporting KC. As their next season approaches in February, Pfannenstiel shares the anticipation and vision for the team's future.

Following Pfannenstiel's segment, the show shifts gears to an engaging conversation with Joey Logano, the defending champion of the enjoy Illinois 300 at World Wide Technology Raceway. In support of Women’s History Month, I’d like to bring to light that thousands of women of color have been murdered or missing. This is a global crisis. We need more than rallies and bills passed. But the powers that be can combat human and sex trafficking and arrest predators and rescue victims. This seems to be an issue based on race, so let’s not forget to pray. I posted this prayer on YouTube months ago but wanted to add it to this month’s honors. Proverbs 31:8-9 Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

This podcast was two years in the making. Before the education world was turned upside down by the pandemic, a science teacher in the Elyria Schools had just learned he was named for a very prestigious national award; an award that is recognized as an elite honor in math and science teaching. Elyria High School Physics Teacher, Jeremy Secaur, learned in 2019 that he had earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST.) Due to COVID, Jeremy wasn't able to fully celebrate his monumental achievement until earlier this year, on May 24-26, 2022, when he traveled to the White House to accept the Presidential Award in person. We caught up with Jeremy to hear what that experience was like, and to talk with him generally about teaching and the world of physics.  Congratulations, Jeremy!
