This week we are looking into the disappearance/ abduction/ vacation of one Steven Kubacki. Last seen on the shore of Lake Michigan, he mysteriously reappeared 14 months later in Massachusetts. The wild speculation is more warranted than usual in this story.
Support the showCoach Bill Sall,
In this episode, you’ll hear from Bill Sall. Coach Sall is the Head Coach at Calvin University. For those who don’t know, Calvin is one of the best Division III basketball programs in the country. As a matter of fact, Coach Sall is an alum of Calvin. At Calvin, Bill scored over two thousand points, had seventy straight double-figure games, and was an All-American. This season Coach Sall and his Calvin Knights are in the midst of another terrific season. Coach Bill Sall is no stranger to running a successful basketball program. And, Coach Sall is closing in on over thirty years as a coach. Early in his career, Coach Sall was an assistant coach at Calvin, Ferris State, and Hillsdale. Coach Sall was the Head Coach for Ferris State for eleven seasons. At Ferris State, Coach Sall recorded over 170 wins, four division titles, and three trips to the DII NCAA Tournament. In addition, Coach Sall was the Head Coach at Northern Michigan for six seasons. At this Division II program in the upper peninsula of Michigan, Coach Sall rebuilt the Northern Michigan basketball program. As many know, Northern Michigan is where Hall of Fame Coach Tom Izzo played. In my conversation with Coach Sall, you are going to learn about a coach who is willing to share all of his secrets. Whether it is discussing how he gets his players to play so hard for him, how he tackles a time out, how he has learned to manage coaching a game, his thoughts on recruiting or his thoughts on raising four wonderful children in a time-consuming profession, Coach Sall directs all of his comments to young coaches. Finally, this is a podcast about change. A head coach who is honest about the changes he has made as coach. Quite simply, it is a tremendous honest introspective from Coach Sall that will have you looking at your own coaching philosophy. And, the final minutes of the podcast is a must listen. Coach Sall‘s thoughts on how he creates long-lasting real relationships with his former players is simply beautiful. This is a podcast about more than wins and losses.
