Series 5, Episode 5: A Renaissance Man writes about Organized Crime

Series 5, Episode 5: A Renaissance Man writes about Organized Crime

Hank Sinatra is a renaissance man and has held many titles in his life including biker, actor, cowboy, Vietnam Veteran, father, husband, and now he is an author. He went to university on the East Coast before leaving to serve his country in the Vietnam War. When he returned to the United States he held a variety of jobs, and had crazy experiences including riding in a biker gang, cowboying in Montana, and living with Native Americans on their land.

He decided to go back to university in his 50s and graduate before his young daughter. He accomplished that goal and received a degree in English with a creative writing concentration, further adding to his 'Renaissance Man' status. He loved expressing himself both as an actor and as a writer, but had never written a full-length novel. Hank began writing about his Italian and Sicilian heritage and "The Bone-Handled Stiletto" was born. It's a novel of fiction, but has historical elements which add context for the time period, along with information on how organized crime gained a foothold in the US. It follows two Sicilian families who have the same patriarch. The patriarch fathered two sons, one inside his marriage and one outside his marriage. The two boys grow up in the streets of Little Italy in Newark, New Jersey and experience Organized Crime both from the inside and the outside. One half-brother is a cop and one is a gangster, but they are unaware of their relation. Some have said this book reads like a series or movie on Netflix about the ins and outs of organized crime during the era when the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) was passed. It is full of suspense, intrigue, and of course the Organized Crime syndicates living on the East Coast.

Hank is currently finishing his second novel and is looking for both a literary agent and publishing house to take his second novel to the masses.
