Learning how to slow down to prevent ADHD Burnout - ADHD Women's Wellbeing Wisdom

This week, we are revisiting a clip from the profound episode with high-performance ADHD Coach Kim Raine about finding a balance between our restless energy, relentless drive and hitting burnout. Kim is also the author of Square Pegs - A Book Of Self-Discovery For Women With ADHD.

As women with ADHD, we have an abundance of ideas, but thriving in business can feel difficult if we work against ourselves. By taking time to rest and make space while being consciously aware of where our energy and creativity levels are, we can be more successful and focused in our careers alongside ADHD.

Watch the Preventing ADHD Burnout Workshop that Kate mentions in the episode here.

During this episode, Kate and Kim speak about:

    • How entrepreneurship and ADHD often go hand in hand
    • How our brains thrive when we're creating
    • How burnout and our ADHD nervous systems can hold us back in business
    • How to thrive with ADHD in business
    • By slowing down, we can achieve more with ADHD
    • Hyperfocus and 'sprinting'
    • Workaholism, ADHD and burnout
    • Finding a balance between our ambitions and our energy levels
    • The fear of burnout can hold us back in business
    • Being enough with our relentless minds
    • It's ok to stand still and celebrate our achievements
    • Being ok with what we've done that day
    • How 'Comparisonitis' and RSD can hold us back in the way we do business
    • Trusting how we work even though it looks different to others
    • Tailor-making a career that works for our creativity, cycles and energy

    Episode 16: Hyperfocus

    Episode 16: Hyperfocus

In Episode 16, James and Alex tackle the thorny, misunderstood issue of hyperfocus. For once, there is some decent psychoeducation (because James wrote it),  our personal reflections on how hyperfocus impacts us and some  'Top Tips', which for once James meaningfully contributes to (this is debatable).  'What did James lose this week?" returns and Alex reads out 'totally real' emails. There is some corpsing in this episode.

247: Chris Bailey | Hyperfocus Secrets for Better Productivity

247: Chris Bailey | Hyperfocus Secrets for Better Productivity

Chris Bailey (@chris_bailey) is a productivity expert, host of the Becoming Better Podcast, and the bestselling author of two books about productivity: Hyperfocus, and The Productivity Project. In the time it's taken you to read this, he's probably written another.

What We Discuss with Chris Bailey:

    • The neurochemical reason our brains switch focus every 40 seconds (or less) and what we can do to recapture this hit to our overall productivity.
    • Why giving yourself the time to unfocus productively with what Chris calls scatterfocus is as crucial to your progress as hyperfocus.
    • How Chris harnesses scatterfocus to mull over and solve complicated problems without distraction.
    • What Chris learned by deliberately allowing himself to enter a state of boredom for an hour a day for an entire month (and how he did so creatively).
    • What the attention overload gap is, the problems it can cause, and why we're more susceptible to it than we probably suspect.
    • And much more...
