    S3 - Vincenzo Aquaro, Chief of Digital Government at United Nations - DESA speaks about Public & Private Partnerships

    Mr. Aquaro has more than 25 years of experience on ICT in public affairs, has been working for private sector and for international organizations. He holds a Master Degree (Laurea Magistrale) in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bari, Italy. In 2010 he was appointed as Chief of E-Government Branch DPADM, UN-DESA.

    Before joining the United Nations, for 10 years he was appointed as CEO of Formit Servizi SpA, an Italian corporate specialized in consulting for PAs, project management, monitoring and evaluation of national and international e-government programmes. As CEO of Formit Servizi, and in partnership with the Department of Informatics and Automation of the Faculty of Engineering of the Roma Tre University, and with IBM Italia SpA, Mr. Aquaro established and co-chaired, the first and the second Edition of the "Second Level Master's Degree in IT Governance: Development, Management and Monitoring". In that period, he also served as executive officer of the Formit Foundation for Technology Migration and Research, an international NGO in consultative status with ECOSOC.

    In 2007 Mr. Aquaro founded and chaired for 3 years, CARMA - a multistakeholder Scientific Research Consortium on Basel II Bank Risk Management e-Services, in supporting SMEs in agriculture and agroindustry. The Consortium was co-financed by European Commission and was run in partnership with academia, private sector and local government.

    Jamie Metzl is a leading technology and healthcare futurist, geopolitical expert, novelist, entrepreneur, and media commentator, Founder and Chair of the global social movement OneShared.World, and an Atlantic Council Senior Fellow and Singularity University faculty member. Described by some as “the original COVID-19 whistleblower,” he was among first to call for a full investigation into pandemic origins in early 2020. Jamie previously served in the U.S. National Security Council, State Department, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and as a Human Rights Officer for the United Nations in Cambodia And was a member of the World Health Organization expert advisory committee on human genome editing from 2019 to 2021.

    Our guest on this week's episode is Ian Khan, writer, futurist, and founder of The Futuracy Group consulting organization. He is also a CNN Technology Futurist, a contributor to Forbes, Business.com, Entrepreneur, and Accounting Web. The importance of supply chains has been shown during the past few months, and it really is the people behind them that make the difference. How will working in supply chains, and work in general, change to meet the challenges of technology and needs? What skills will be required for supply chain jobs of the future?

    The Russian Invasion of Ukraine has certainly affected the movement of goods within Ukraine. Logistics Plus is one American company that is working in Ukraine to keep products flowing and also to transport much needed humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine. We find out what they are doing and the challenges this logistics organization faces in that war-torn nation.

    With uncertainty over the labor situation at West Coast ports, many shippers are diverting cargo to East Coast and Gulf Coast ports. How have these other ports responded to the increasing demand?
