BarBend Classic: Ice-T on His Lifetime of Fitness

BarBend Classic: Ice-T on His Lifetime of Fitness

This is probably our FAVORITE episode from the archives!

Today I’m talking to legendary rapper, songwriter, and actor Ice-T. Since his origins in the underground rap scene of the 1980s to his long-term stint on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Ice-T has been a cultural force in America for as long as many of us have been alive. But one thing a lot of people might not know is his passion for fitness. In his youth, Ice-T was a competitive gymnast and fan of physical culture, and now in his 60s, he’s exercising often twice per day.

| BACKSPIN Stammtisch powered by o2

I'm so mad at myself for not knowing how awesome this film is until now. This one was Mikey's pick and I'm so glad he chose this one. I'm obsessed with the outfits throughout and not to mention the bitchin soundtrack put together by none other than Courtney Love.

Johnny Mnemonic - Dropped Culture Goes Cyberpunk

Johnny Mnemonic - Dropped Culture Goes Cyberpunk
It's 2021 and a man has 320gb's worth of data in his head that can save the world. Problem is he can only hold 160!!! Perhaps he'll get by with a little help from his friends; a cyber tuned up bodyguard that he promises to pay, a doctor that was the ex front man of a legendary punk band, and a rapper that likes to wear ski goggles in the middle of a city! Too bad a bunch of horrible bad guys from the Yakuza (one with a killer coke nail) and a street preacher with more metal in him than bones want to cut his head off! Did I mention a cyber enhanced Dolphin is in there somewhere too? This movie kicks some major ass if your 13 but now...... I guess it's still pretty rad! The best part of the whole movie is Dolph Lundgren's English is better that it ever was! We put on our VR goggles and dove into this movie like we were hacking the Beijing fax history! This movie is as dated as our vernacular but we loved it! So plug in your favorite headphones or turn on your bluetooth because your about the enter the future! Better have your VCRs ready! Remember: don't trust Udo Kier and have a Dropped Culture Day!
