381 | Hollie, three vaginal births, midwifery care, hypertension, induction, epidural, incompetent cervix, cervical stitch, breech, ECV, unplanned breech homebirth
In today’s episode Hollie shares her three very different vaginal birth experiences. Her first baby was measuring big on third trimester scans so while a few obstetricians told her a planned caesarean was the safest option, she chose to be induced. She opted for an epidural and birthed her baby within six hours of the syntocinon drip starting. Four months later she discovered she was pregnant again and at her 19 week scan the sonographer noticed that her cervix was shortening. Hollie had a cervical stitch inserted and later had it removed at 37 weeks. She went into spontaneous labour a week afterwards and noticed a significant difference to the induced labour with her first baby. Her third pregnancy was planned and her labour was fast; she birthed her breech baby at home before the paramedics arrived. --------------------- Prepare for a positive birth experience with my new book .

Slaying the Stigma with Justina Oldehoff

Slaying the Stigma with Justina Oldehoff

Settle in for the intimate story of Justina Oldehoff and her son, Carter. Born fighting, Carter's life was the catalyst for Justina to care for other NICU and bereaved families. In this interview, Justina is normalizing the complex feelings of bereaved moms. She's also open about the emotionally complex experience of another high-risk pregnancy after loss, while simultaneously grieving for Carter. Listen as she's honest about how brutal grief can be, while beautifully weaving hope into her story of trauma and loss.

Justina is a mom to two preemie boys, 24-weeker Carter in heaven and 29-weeker Aron who is a happy, healthy two-and-a-half-year-old, and wife to Dan of 13 years. She is a healthcare administrator in Colorado who loves to travel, write, read, and do yoga. Through their foundation, Carter's Cause, her mission is to provide hope, encouragement, and resources to NICU parents, bereaved parents, and their support systems.

    Preterm Labor Post-Infertility

    Preterm Labor Post-Infertility

Women who become pregnant through IVF have an 80% higher risk for spontaneous preterm birth before both 37 and 34 weeks gestation, compared with those who conceived naturally, according to a 2017 study.

Today we’re talking to Monique Farook, the host of the podcast Infertility and Me, about her long path to parenthood after IUIs, IVF, a 24-week delivery and 129 days in the NICU. Warrior, indeed.
