    Remaining in the Way

    Remaining in the Way

Reviewing this concept in the Bible, the Way is well-attested throughout, from the earliest beginnings in Genesis all the way through the NT writings. The Way of Yahweh is variously described as the way to the tree of life, the way of wisdom, the way of righteousness, and sometimes simply the Way.

In this episode, the Way is charted from Genesis, through the ministries of John and Yeshua, and into the lives of the early believers. The Way is something that is distinct from where the rest of the world travels. Being on this Way of holiness means that one is traveling within a way of life that is intentionally set apart for God's purposes, and this Way can keep even our foolish inclinations in check.

    A Way Through the Desert

    A Way Through the Desert

Deserts feel barren, lifeless, and harsh.  Many of our heroes in Scripture, including the most familiar names, spent time in desert places.  While there, God often showed up and transformed them.

Each of us encounter desert experiences in our lives as well: times of loneliness, obscurity, discipline, mental illness, and thirst for more in life- just like our heroes in Scripture.  Is there a Way out?  Who knows it?  How can we find that Way, in all the sandy sadness and searing stress of life?

And what comes after Luke 3?  Thankfully, Barb is there to guide us through that (tricky?) question as well.

    Isaiah 35

    Isaiah 35
God makes a barren desert blossom. What is our part in this? Are we prepared to toil and labour for God with everything that we have - time, energy and ideas? What is our character like? Does it reflect what is written in Galatians 5:22, 23? Will we decide to be full-time lighthouse keepers for God? Do we have a sense of urgency? All of the PowerPoint slides for this Talk, as well as John's notes are on our website.

    Isaiah and Joy

    Isaiah and Joy
John talks about how Isaiah is important, and we need to hear him on his terms so that we can hear what Jesus was on about. We need to stop layering Christianity all over him and silencing his voice.During this week you are invited to take time at the end of each day to give thanks for ways God has both brought joy into your day; and through you brought joy into the lives of others.; and to reflect on what has led you away from joy.
