Rashford Boots in Two | Wales 0-3 England

Rashford Boots in Two | Wales 0-3 England

Good news! England are into the knockouts with relative ease after a 3-0 victory against Wales in which Marcus Rashford, as Good Morning Britain described it, "booted in two goals" whilst Phil Foden "saw in one more".

Awful terminology aside, it was a comfortable win and a much more impressive performance from Southgate's side, and one that Simon, Josh & Matt were more than happy to discuss the day after.

Also on this show, there's a recap of England's group stage as a whole, a festive World Cup Quiz-thing and a look ahead to the prospect of Senegal on Sunday.

    Enjoy!

    FIFA World Cup 2022 Preview

    FIFA World Cup 2022 Preview

So it's finally here, 5 months later than usual, the FIFA World Cup of Cognitive Dissonance. The World Cup in Qatar is a troubling one for fans around the world, and an awkward thing to handle for the players, managers and coaches alike.

In this preview for a very strange spectacle, Simon, Josh and Matt take a dive into Gareth Southgate's squad selection, look ahead to the first game against Iran and discuss how possible it is truly enjoy a World Cup at this time of year, with these hosts in charge and the huge list of controversies overshadowing proceedings.

We're expecting a far from smooth ride throughout the tournament and we intend to keep shining a light on all of the darker, grimmer aspects of an event that we should all be able to enjoy guilt-free as fans and participants, but arguably can't.

UEFA Nations League Preview & England Squad Reaction

UEFA Nations League Preview & England Squad Reaction

England fans assemble! It's been awhile for us but we just couldn't resist chatting about the Nations League fixtures ahead of the Three Lions this summer.

Simon was joined by James, Josh and Matt to talk about Gareth Southgate's selections and omissions, the four games in the diary for June plus the small matter of the World Cup draw which we neglected to discuss at the time.

Plenty to go at, so enjoy!

Are We There Yet? | England 1-1 Hungary

Are We There Yet? | England 1-1 Hungary

Don't worry, we haven't scuttled off just because it's not a summer tournament! We're back behind the mics after missing the September qualifiers to talk about England's penultimate set of games in their effort to cement a place at World Cup 2022.

On this month's episode, Simon is joined by James and Josh to go over a slightly disappointing result and performance against Hungary and the 5-0 away win in Andorra previous. There's talk about the squad's form, the move away from two holding midfielders and much more.

Enjoy, we're glad to be back!

Ransomware-hit law firm gets court order asking crooks not to publish the data they stole

Criminals break into your systems, they do the usual, exfiltrate data, deploy ransomware, and leave you nasty messages about how they pwned you while blackmailing you.

However, New Square Ltd may have found a way to stop the criminals from capitalising on the data they have stolen by making it illegal for the criminals to release any of the stolen information.

This TikTok Lawsuit Is Highlighting How AI Is Screwing Over Voice Actors

Voice actors are rallying behind Bev Standing, who is alleging that TikTok acquired and replicated her voice using AI without her knowledge.

At the center of this reckoning is voice actress Bev Standing, who is suing TikTok after alleging the company used her voice for its text-to-speech feature without compensation or consent. This is not the first case like this; voice actress Susan Bennett discovered that audio she recorded for another company was repurposed to be the voice of Siri after Apple launched the feature in 2011. She was paid for the initial recording session but not for being Siri.

Delivery Drivers Are Using Grey Market Apps to Make Their Jobs Suck Less

Drivers are there virtually, using GPS-spoofing apps to position themselves right in the center of the McDonald's lot while they physically wait under nearby shelters. Using these unofficial apps, known as tuyul, drivers can set their GPS pins at the optimal location they would like orders from, without having to physically drive there.

049: Do you celebrate your wins?

It's coming home... isn't it?! Admittedly inspired by the vibe surrounding the Euro2020 tournament (I know, right?!), this week's episode asks the question "Do you celebrate your wins" and (spoiler alert!) wholeheartedly inspires you to do so.

This episode does not consist of a "how to" or a step by step process but is an in the moment reflection of if we celebrate, how we celebrate and why it's important.

There are also some layers explored about celebrating privately and / or publicly, the importance of finding your squad and a renowned (British) characteristic which could be stealing your joy.

Enjoying this episode? (Whoop whoop!) - don't forget to share it and encourage more celebrations (whatever the outcome in the football!).

Summer of 92 & New Legends of Monkey

Summer of 92 & New Legends of Monkey

As the Europeans deify another bunch of hopelessly overpaid man-children so too the Bad Dads cash in with an episode devoted to that most infantile of sports, football. Bad Dad Dan is something of a football fanatic and has a touch of pedigree himself having played football under West Ham's very first attacking full-back/Manager, Syd King in 1902. The beautiful game lit a spark in Dan that could not be extinguished, which is how we end up here almost 120 years later with The Top 5 Movie With Balls.

Ah the Summer of '92, I remember it well. It would have been the year of my bar mitzvah and though countless debauched evenings and sleepless parental nights have consigned actual memories to the mists of time, I can of course take a fair guess based on all of the available evidence as to what I would have been doing: watching on miserably as England crash pathetically out of yet another major football tournament. Who knows, this time next week I'll probably be doing the same. As it happens though the very much unfancied Danish football team eventually won Euro 1992 but without Kasper Barfoed's brilliant SOMMEREN '92 I wouldn't have known anything about the struggle Richard Møller Nielsen (Ulrich Thomsen)  faced to galvanise his team, the spiritual journey Cyron Melville's Brian Laudrup undertook and the incredible emotional story of Kim Wilfort and his daughter Line.

We finish up this weeks show with the pilot episode of Netflix's The New Legends of Monkey. If there was a football connection it was lost on me, something something magical crown and a lot of wind and lasers shooting from hands, then the thing ended. I dunno, this one didn't grab me guys but don't take my word for it, at least two of the dads loved it and the other one didn't bother because he hates you. So, you know. Make your own mind up or something.
