Episode 135: Tasty Grain Free Cooking with Anna Vocino of Eat Happy Kitchen

Episode 135: Tasty Grain Free Cooking with Anna Vocino of Eat Happy Kitchen
This week on The Appropriate Omnivore podcast, Aaron Zober welcomes Anna Vocino of Eat Happy Kitchen. Anna is both an author with her cookbooks "Eat Happy" & "Eat Happy Too" and a CPG entrepreneur with her product line Eat Happy Kitchen. Anna shares her story of becoming an entrepreneur at a young age as she was raised by a single mother and needed money in her pocket for yummy food. Anna currently wears many other hats as well. She's also a voice over artist and standup comic. She jokes about being diagnosed with Celiac's disease for it was cool. Hating all of the gluten free options, she started making her own dishes and blogging about them. After hosting a podcast, she shifted her focus from gluten free to grain free. Anna discusses the origins of the recipes she created. Plus how both her Italian heritage and California influence played a major role in her cooking. Aaron also gets her to talk about her venture into CPG, what we can expect from Anna in the future with both more cookbooks and more products from Eat Happy Kitchen, and all the ways that a low carb/grain free diet has helped her live healthier and happier life.

Food For Thought: Cooking with Massimo and Friends, and Living the Simple Life

Food For Thought: Cooking with Massimo and Friends, and Living the Simple Life

Welcome to Episode #14:  Food For Thought, Cooking from the Cookbook ‘Bread is Gold: Extraordinary Meals with Ordinary Ingredients’ as a project to see me though this year.  I have no doubt it will take me that long......And surrendering to the Simple Life as I know it.

Wow, things have changed so fast we barely know what will happen today nor tomorrow.  We are in the middle of unprecedented times, certainly in my own personal lifetime never mind my kids.  Italy is suffering so much as are most countries, and we are watching from the sidelines on guard to our own fate with this virus.  My prayers and thoughts are with those who are experiencing the harsh reality  and pain of this time.

In the short term I am concentrating my energies on what I can do today that is creative, intentional and purposeful.  Creativity is called for in times of crisis.

Making the decision to flat out cook from the bountiful ‘Bread is Gold’ cookbook is not a light one.  It takes time, thought, intention, resourcefulness and conviction.  Time will tell about the conviction part however I am enjoying the process and finding my way even if I am slightly anxious how this will turn out.  Onwards I say.......
