    Its Thursday today, the third day of the Income Tax Department action on BBC. It started On Tuesday 14th february and now for more than 60 hours, the Income Tax dept's survey continues at BBC India's Delhi and Mumbai office. At the BBC's office in Mumbai's Santacruz, the I-T officials are present inside the office premises for the third day and the assessment of accounts is going on. The survey teams are seeking answers on financial transactions, the company structure and other details about the news company, and are copying data from electronic gadgets as part of their task of collecting the evidence. Meanwhile, the organization has asked their employees to Work from Home. According to reports quoting govt sources, the IT department was investigating issues related to international taxation and transfer pricing of BBC subsidiary companies. It also alleged that the broadcaster was served with notices in the past, but was ""defiant and non-compliant"" and had significantly diverted its profits. HW News Could not independently verify this. On the second day of the raid itself, Laptops and Mobile phones of some of the employees were seized. The tax department officials have reportedly produced a warrant that says they have three days to conduct this survey. Now, the development led to ripples not only in media industry but also in political corridors and the international journalist community.     The Supreme Court on Wednesday (February 15) said that the “governor should not enter [the] political arena”. The court was hearing a case relating to the recent political crisis in Maharashtra which led to the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray government, after a faction of Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde withdrew their support. Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud said statements like this should not be coming from the governor’s office. “How can Governor be heard to say all this? On the formation of government, how can the Governor say this? When they form a government, governor is asked to give a trust vote…We are only saying Governor should not enter political arena,” he said.     BBC IT Survey: When BBC Was Shut Down In India By Former PM Indira Gandhi| BJP

    For the second consecutive day, income tax survey on news agency BBC continues. BBC has asked some of its editorial staff to work from office and some to work from home. the income tax survey has been going on for more than 24 hours, in the overnight search operation, the IT dept also seized laptops and mobile phones of some of the staff members. The Income Tax dept action, is going on at BBC India's Delhi and Mumbai office. According to sources in the Income Tax department, the officials have visited the BBC office for verification for a survey. Teams of Mumbai Police have also been deployed outside the premises in Mumbai to anyone from leaving or entering. It has also been learnt that apart from Delhi and Mumbai 'survey raids' are being conducted in other parts of the country as well. The raids come close to heels of the documentary released by the British broadcaster on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the 2002 Gujarat Riots. The documentary was swiftly blocked by the Indian govt invoking emergency powers under IT Rules. The opposition claims that the action on BBC is motivated by revenge. Whereas BJP has slammed the oppn. BBC on its part has said that it is cooperating with the authorities.     The Income Tax department has raided BBC India offices. According to reports, the Tax department is conducting a survey at BBC India's offices. The tax raid is going on at BBC India's Delhi and Mumbai office. The phones of the staff have been seized and they have been asked to go home. The Income Tax officials arrived at the Delhi office at around 11.30 AM. The Income tax dept says that it is a survey to verify some information that they have. Reportedly, BBC's London office has also been informed about the action. The raids come at a time when a documentary by BBC on PM Modi has created controversy in the country. The documentary named India-The Modi Question was released by the BBC few days back.
