Final Friday: Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman (2000)

Final Friday: Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman (2000)

Jack Frost is back following the police officer who put him away to an island for his revenge.

Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman may actually be crazier than the first movie, if this was even possible. With an odd set of characters, crazy kills, and the snowman with the wild puns, this movie leaves your jaw on the floor with just how bizarre it gets. It's a crazy movie that we did enjoy more than the first and it will keep you entertained all the way through.

    Jack Frost (w/ Anthony Caruso)

What’s up, dudes? I've got Anthony Caruso from 'Tis the Podcast with me to break down all things 1979 Rankin Bass special  "Jack Frost"! We also create an aural red yarn line conspiracy-style graphic trying to untangle the very loose continuity of the R/B universe! Or is it multiverse? Is Kubla Kraus the Burgermeister's ancestor? Is Father Winter the Snow Miser's father? Is Bill Murray's "Groundhog Day" part of the R/B canon? So grab your ice coins, wrap an empty gift, and cast a magic shadow as you dip into this episode!

Episode 158: Jack Frost & Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman

Episode 158: Jack Frost & Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman

Step into Christmas loyal listeners with us as your festive guides, it's the most wonderful time of the year and this is our festive treat to you.

In keeping with the season we take a look at the connective tissue between heartwarming family drama 'Jack Frost', in which Michael Keaton plays a struggling blues musician who gets a second chance at a relationship with his son when he gets reincarnated as a sentient snowman, and 'Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman' which is also about a reincarnated man just trying to live his life again as he did first time around.

Astonishingly the films do share a surprising amount in common, do they also share the same quality level? Yes.

    Episode 149: Holiday Horror Movie Talk/'Frozen' (2010)

    Episode 149: Holiday Horror Movie Talk/'Frozen' (2010)

We really wanted to go the month without reviewing any holiday horror movies. We love them as much as the next person, but we just felt like going in a different direction. In lieu of an actual review, we talk about some of our favorite Christmas horror movies. Some of the are obvious while others will catch you off guard. We also talk about an underrated thriller that takes place in chilly conditions.

A few months back we talked about The Green Knight and were decidedly split on how we felt. Now that the movie is getting a Christmas re-release, we revisit what we thought. You will be surprised to find what we now think. We also wonder if people will ever stop talking about Die Hard and its connection to Christmas. We also talk about Steven Spielberg's upcoming remake of West Side Story and his decision to have no subtitles for the Spanish speaking parts.

It is the second spookiest time of year! We talk about the holiday horror movies you should see. Kiera Knightley, fever dreams, and childhood classics all crop up. We also discuss why Jack Frost is a better holiday horror movie than Thankskilling. And, more Die Hard?

Frozen is a 2010 thriller that keeps things simple. The story is about a trio of friends who get caught on a ski lift and have to battle the elements in order to describe. Obviously, this type of movie will take a lot of realism to succeed, but why did they make it feel like it was from another decade? Plus, we talk about relatable characters that are little annoying and very dumb.

Horror for the Holidays III (Jack Frost, The Advent Calendar, The Star Wars Holiday Special)

Horror for the Holidays III (Jack Frost, The Advent Calendar, The Star Wars Holiday Special)

Just when you think you've nearly reached the end of the year, and you're safe, nestled in your warm little beds, you remember that it's time for HO-HO-HOLIDAY HORROR! First up, a convict, in transport to be executed, finds his body genetically altered and combined with snow. And suddenly, we have a homicidal snowman seeking vengeance! Better keep the anti-freeze handy, Jack Frost (1997) is on a holiday rampage! Holiday traditions can be so nice. It's always wonderful to receive a unique and thoughtful gift from a friend. Just be careful if the gift happens to be an antique. Particularly if it's from Germany, it seems. If you play along nicely, you could be rewarded. But if you break the rules, you may end up dead, in The Advent Calendar (2021). And then from there, you may have heard whispers of its existence. About how awful it was. But how could this be? Did it really happen? Surely, it must have been a hallucination. But no. It's all too real. Chewbacca has a family. We SEE how they live! We watch Chewbacca's wife cook! We suffer through astonishingly bad musical interludes! Chewbacca's son has a stuffed bantha toy, and Imperial troops rip its head off! All of these horrors await you, in The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978)!

    Frosty’s Winter Wonderland

    Frosty’s Winter Wonderland

🎄 Happy birthday! The Advent Calendar House kicks off a countdown to Christmas in July by setting the table for Rankin/Bass’s eventual epic crossover, starting with Frosty’s Winter Wonderland, a snowy sequel from 1976 starring a strange, tall goblin claiming to be Andy Griffith.

    🎙 Guest:

Brandon Medley (@brandmed, Blessed Are the Geek, Star Weirdos).

    💬 Topics & Tangents:

    1. A brief guide to finding obsure things on Disney+, like Melody Time, starring Dennis Day, (the voice of Parson Brown) as Johnny Appleseed.

    2. Barbara Jo Ewing voiced one of the kids in her only known credit, but somehow IMDb knows her height.

    3. We do the math to figure out how far the wind carried a newspaper from Frosty’s hometown to the North Pole.

    4. Frosty beat The Santa Clause 2 to the “gotta get a wife” plot point by more than 2 decades.

    5. Frosty’s “specifications” for his ideal woman are the same as Sir Mix-a-Lot’s.

    6. Are snow people self-aware before coming to life and stuck in a comatose state?

    7. Jack Frost’s “winter that almost didn’t end” foreshadowed the real-life Blizzard of 1977 by less than 2 weeks.

    Jack Frost (1997)

For this very festive edition of Geek A&E, the dynamic duo give themselves a gift of watching Jack Frost, wherein a scenery chewing serial killer gets melted by the science into a killer snowman. Also, Shannon Elizabeth takes her top off.

Along the way they touch on; Danny Dyer, that really famous Japanese ceramic with the story of lovers on that Alec was completely unaware of until now, famous serial killers and anus ghosts.

Happy Holidays ho ho ho etc.
