Season 6 Episode 9 (Wretched Threads ft. James Jordan)

Wretched Threads comes to Catanation Studios.

James Jordan shares about how he began his clothing line that was inspired by his surroundings as well as the message he gives out to San Diego. James also gets personal as he shares how he overcame alcohol, drugs, and even homelessness throughout his journey.

This podcast wouldn't have happened without the help of Ady Spellman, a returning guest who introduced me to James, and she joins me on this podcast as a co-host for this show.

71 - On Laws of Attraction, Being a Servant Leader, and Complementarianism

71 - On Laws of Attraction, Being a Servant Leader, and Complementarianism

What is the basis of men, not women, being pastors? How are we to understand the biblical norm of male headship and creational designs of masculinity?

In this episode, I dive into a variety of topics related to male leadership and gender differences. There has been much literature produced on the concept of servant leadership as the biblical paradigm for husbands and pastors. But what if it is wrong? I explore the concept of the laws of attraction from Aaron Renn, the Danvers Statement, and an article by James Jordan on Liturgical Man. This episode was inspired by a question on my Patreon page. 55 - Uri Brito on Writing with Wit, Biblical Models of Rhetoric, and Postmillennialism

55 - Uri Brito on Writing with Wit, Biblical Models of Rhetoric, and Postmillennialism

In this interview with Uri Brito, we discuss his background and development as a pastor, theologian, and writer. We explore the topic of writing with satire, rhetorical effectiveness, and modeling the rhetoric of God. We close with a discussion on postmillennialism. Is satire redeemable? Why do Christians avoid certain modes of discourse? What if the way I communicate stops someone from hearing the gospel? What is postmillennialism and why does it matter?

Bio from Uribrito.com: “Rev. Dr. Uriesou T. Brito is the Senior Pastor of Providence Church in Pensacola, Fl.  He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 2009. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Clearwater Christian College, a Masters of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, Fl and has successfully defended his doctoral thesis from RTS in Pastoral Theology...

Dr. Brito is the editor of The Church-Friendly Family (purchase the printed book here) and author of The Trinitarian Father. He is the co-author of a commentary on Ruth and the recently published commentary on Jonah. He also co-wrote a small booklet on pipe-smoking.

He is the founder and contributor to The Kuyperian Commentary and a board member at Theopolis Institute and the Senior Fellow of Pastoral Theology for the Center for Cultural Leadership. He has been published at The Christian Post, Theopolis Institute, and other on-line journals and blogs. You can visit his main website at kuyperian.com

    VMI 4.04 Heads You Lose

    VMI 4.04 Heads You Lose

A LONG TIME AGO ON VERONICA MARS:

    • The themes of the season, bombs and beheadings, combine, as a spring breaker who’s been spiking women’s drinks gets a bomb strapped around his neck.
    • The Marses, Matty and the murderheads are still shuffling around their various theories about who the bomber is: Big Dick and Clyde trying to kill the Spring Break business for property prices; or the Maloofs, for reasons that nobody can really be arsed with any more. • Daniel Maloof is regretting ordering the hit on the Carrs, but too late! Dodie and Alonzo have video of them killing them…
    • ...but one has survived? What a twist!
    • Not enough jerks for you? This episode features the reappearances of Mercer, Lucky-in-a-wig and Toxic Max!
    • But in compensation we also see Vinnie, and... LEO! He’s now an FBI agent and divorcé with a jacket full of snacks, there to tempt Veronica as she struggles with domestic bliss with Logan.

Join Jenny Owen Youngs and Helen Zaltzman to investigate Veronica Mars season 4 episode 4: Heads You Lose, and delve into such mysteries as why Penn has a 6ft sub for a meeting with only three other people, why the Neptune Grand has been made over as a worse hotel, and the Optimus Prime of tiny jackets.

Content note: Veronica Mars contains heavy themes, and this episode includes storylines concerning murder, bombing, suicide, violence and rape.

Watching "Last Dance" and Pippen refusing to go in at end of Game 3 of 1994 playoffs vs Knicks because he wasn't an option on last shot that Kucoc hit to win game.  Does this affect his legacy to all the basketball fans out there?  I don't know how he could do that.  You're a professional.

    Sacred Cow Tipping: The 'Warm-Up'

    Sacred Cow Tipping: The 'Warm-Up'

Richard and Eric ramble on in attempting to tip over a perceived 'sacred cow' of the current choral scene: the 'warm-up'.  What is a choral 'warm-up,' and what are the various ways it could be seen to be a positive or negative tool and experience?  Are we being thoughtful in our time 'warming up' an ensemble, or is this a time of ritual and routine?
