The _th best team in baseball

The _th best team in baseball

Brandon and Phil check in on their new stat (KPOP do not steal!), make wishy washy statements about how good the Mariners are, dig into the Atlanta Braves' secret sauce, and peep down on the farm.

    Kelenic Koming Out Party

    Kelenic Koming Out Party

The fellas rejoice over Jarred Kelenic's breakout week, describe what it feels like to watch Luis Castillo at the peak of his powers, and let Gabe Speier sit with them at the cool kids table.

We’ve got a Policy for That. Ish.

We’ve got a Policy for That. Ish.

Jackie Robinson Day always teaches us something new. The 2013 Red Sox commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing, Pedro begins a mentoring program, and Pottymouth takes issue with the bleeping of David Ortiz. Yu Chang starts hitting, Jarred Kelenic hits it far, and Franchy is hitting big for the wrong team. Patti dives into the math around the uptick in stolen bases – will this year’s champ hit 60? 80? And Trea wants to make sure we’re stealing for the right reasons. Tatis finally gets a shot at AAA ball. We’re with Rocco in the Police Blotter where he takes issue with umpires allowing Doming Germán to remain in a game after not following the crew chief’s directive, and we’re baffled about the “umpire discretion/we’ve got a policy but no one followed it” pitch clock violation when all the Dodgers fans wanted to do was welcome Cody home. Yankees broadcasters need to understand that kids from Cleveland get to rock long hair, even when forced to wear a NYY uni. A handful of teams are extending alcohol sales past the 7th inning, given the increased speed of the game, begging the question of the goal of ending sales early – it used to be to prevent drunk driving – which seems to be a moving target.  Don’t get us wrong, we’re all in for a second beer because we are either on the metro or with a designated driver, but the policy, dammit. Stay tuned for what happens next weekend when the Pottymouth’s ditch Patti for a baseball trip to see the Phils and the Iron Pigs/Woo Sox.

    9x9 SEASON PREVIEW EXTRAVAGANZA

Phil and Brandon run through nine lists of nine topics to preview this Mariners season. The lists were: Mariners baseball storylines we're interested in, Mariners non-baseball storylines we're interested in, MLB storylines we're interested in, guys who might be Mariners by August, prospects set to enjoy a big year, statistics that will define this year, things we'll be frustrated by this year, reasons to be optimistic about Jarred Kelenic, and, most importantly, the best looking Mariners.

    Baseball's Most Profitable Podcast

Phil and Brandon reunite to model Vanilla Missile merchandise, break down what appears to be the Opening Day roster, reminisce on the five minutes where we thought Jarred Kelenic was traded, start the George KirCY campaign, debate the presence of aliens on Mercer Island, and somehow, more!

    Roughly Al Dente

    Roughly Al Dente

Phil and Brandon continue to lock down the age-limits-at-restaurants beat with a report from Montgomery County, PA. Then they discuss baseball by deciding whether certain Mariners-related statements are "al dente" or need more time.

    Mariners Therapy

    Mariners Therapy

Phil and Brandon engage in a bit of Mariners therapy to vent about the no good, very bad road trip from the depths of hell. After they've let the steam exit their ears, they discuss the Luis Castillo extension and the recent surge from Jarred Kelenic.

This episode was recorded before the 9/27 game against the Texas Rangers.

Pride Month: Because of Being Kissing

Pride Month: Because of Being Kissing

It’s Pride month so we give you the rundown on MLB events including a first on the field, swag (rainbow jerseys with your pick of pronouns), atonement, and atonement still due. Anyone know if the Padres “spinny thing” has a name?  It stars in our fashion segment about team-specific MVP accessories, which could be improved by adding dancing. Our police blotter update on the dismissal of the demand to move the All Star Game back to Atlanta gives us our new favorite judge. Sorry, Aaron, but she rocks. Liam Hendriks and Davey Martinez weigh in on the need for an MLB-approved “universal substance” that pitchers can use to maintain grip on the baseball, for the safety of the batters. In our COVID update, non-vaxxer Anthony Rizzo gives us a WTF moment and Carson Kelly brings us back to the before times.

Pottymouth checks in on the old guys, and Isiah Kiner-Falefa earns some love. Patti reviews the young guys as Daz Cameron hits his first major league homer, Jo Adell knocks on the door, and Jarred gets a time-out. Quarantine rules wreck some Olympic dreams. Get your proposals in for the 3rd Annual Women in Baseball Conference, sponsored by IWBC and SABR. This year’s theme is “Breaking Barriers: Women in Baseball Around the World”

See us work “air fried kale” and “being kissing” into a conversation about baseball.
