Ep 30: Them's the RULES! Behavior at the vet's office

Following story after story about the veterinary profession after COVID, frustrated clients, depressed veterinarians, and everything in between, Dr. Jen the vet came across a TED Talk video that made a lightbulb go off in her head.  She immediately called Dr. Jason and they chatted about thoughts inspired by the video resulting in three basic rules (guidelines) to help everyone on the animal care team to work together to take care of the pets we all love!

Ep 23: Better Cat Care? Yep, that's possible!

Do you have a catio at your house?  You may have a dadio, but if you have a cat you need a catio!  Is your cat bored?  Could your cat be happier?  Join Dr. Jen the vet and Dr. Jason as they host Dr. Margie Scherk and turn the Chat room into Le chat room to talk all things feline!

Dr. Margie Scherk is a feline medicine specialist practicing in Toronto. She opened Cats Only Veterinary Clinic in Vancouver (the FIRST cat only practice in Canada!) and practiced there until 2008, publishing several clinical trials during that time. She has written a number of book chapters, is an active international speaker and enjoys teaching online courses. Ep 22: Make your shots count! Vaccines, titers, and more!

These days almost everyone feels like an expert on vaccines...but are you?!  Do you know the  "puppy shot" schedule?  What about kittens?  Do senior dogs, 7 yrs old and up, REALLY need vaccines EVERY year?  And, what about titers, don't those count for something?  Does your vet give your dog a vaccine that goes "up the nose?"

Luckily, Dr. Jen the vet and Dr. Jason know a vaccine expert!  Dr. Amy Stone enters the Chat Room to talk all about "vaccine-ology" and YOUR pets!  Dr. Stone is another smartypants - not only is she a veterinarian  - she also has a PhD in immunology!  Currently, Dr. Stone is the Primary Care and Dentistry Service Chief at the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine.  Find out more about Dr. Stone here: https://www.vetmed.ufl.edu/profile/stone-amy/

Ep 13: Them's the Rules: Can we join your PACCC?!

This is the first in our series of episodes called, "Them's the Rules!" where we explore the little known rules, regulations, and guidelines for really important aspects of animal care.  In this episode, Dr. Jen the vet and Dr. Jason are joined by Stephanie Shipley, the current Chair of the Professional Animal Care Certification Council (PACCC).  The PACCC is the world's only certification program for animal care professionals and requires successful examination for different levels of professionals: Providers, Managers, and Operators.

The conversation ranges from PACCC standards and evolution to what should pet owners be looking for when choosing a boarding kennel for their pet, a groomer, or a doggie day care location.  If you are currently looking for pet care, you need to listen to this first!

Stephanie not only chairs the PACCC, she is a certified professional and runs her own award-winning pet care facility punily titled Paw & Order.  Check out her place here: http://pawandorder.ca
