    Walk-Off Bingo

    Walk-Off Bingo

Patti and the Pottymouth record from neighborhood brewery 3Stars and wish them a fond farewell on their last day of operations. Pottymouth has been back to Fenway so she has a LOT to say, including reports of a hero named Jeter. Patti celebrates the return of Corey’s bat, the historic naming of Jazz to the All-Star roster, and the water wings of probable future BF J-Rod. There is pondering over the Os just being fun, or are they actually good. The UK hosts Derby X (is it “ex” or “ten?  We  don’t know!) which sounds exactly like something we would come up with over tasty beer at a local brewery.

Patti gives you the basics on how next week’s draft works, as well as an overview of the latest proposals for an international draft. Important events in girls baseball are happening from T-ball to elite levels. Advocates for Minor Leaguers toss around terms like “minor league conspiracy” and “illegal” in their response to the Senate request for information on MLB’s antitrust exemption. Pottymouth makes travel plans for the World Baseball Classic. We say “little umbrellas in our drinks,”  “hard and bitter,” and “Chipotle or lobster?”

I’ll get the Woo, You get the Hoo

I’ll get the Woo, You get the Hoo

Patti is back from the plague, in time for the boyfriend home run barrage. Former bfs light up Gerrit Cole for home runs in the first three batters of a game. Three bfs currently on the Nationals homer back to back to back. Pottymouth wants bonus qHAR points for clutch pitching from Camilo Doval. Adley’s bat wakes up, Jake’s stays woke, and Jazz introduces the “I don’t care” tool to the collection. The Corrections department revisits the Rays and the Pride upheaval, and corrects Florida Governor DeSantis as everything he knows is wrong.

Will LaRussa firmly taking responsibility for his decisions prevent him from following in the footsteps of Joe Maddon and Joe Girardi? The Angels bring out the disco for Jared Walsh’s cycle, and we debate whether their City Connect unis are pretty good or just fine. We are horrified by the number of transphobic bills harming student athletes and encourage you to act locally. The Angelos family, owners of the Orioles, bring the drama. Sons of Hall of Famers and All Stars stack the Brockton Rox and remind us to remind you to find your nearest summer collegiate baseball league and take in some games.

We say “man bun,” “wealth of baseball-adjacent knowledge,” and “my dad looks nothing like Pedro Martinez.”

Ep. 58: Bronx Powerhouse, Bye Bye Bauer, Home Run Deficiency, Dusty Baker's 2,000 Wins, Overreactions So Far, Injuries Galore

This week the boys start the show with talking about the Yankees winning streak. Don't hate us... They look to be the best team in the league. Is it for real? Home Runs are down so far. Is this good for baseball or bad? Why is the league doctoring the ball? The boys dive in. News came down this week about Trevor Bauer's two-year suspension. This is likely a death sentence for his career. After, the boys discuss manager Dusty Baker getting his 2,000th win. This asks the question: is he a top-10 manager of all-time now? We are now a little over a month into the season, which brings overreactions galore. Is Mike Trout going to win his 4th MVP? Is Eric Hosmer going to have a career year? Are the White Sox's and Tigers' rebuilds in trouble? The boys answer this and more. They round out the show with Fantasy Factory and Collection Corner.

    Fight Me

    Fight Me

Patti is willing to die on the hill of a combined no-hitter not being a no-no. Pottymouth is deeply tired of discussing Trevor Bauer who is appealing his record-setting suspension but otherwise is not appealing in any way. The Contreras brothers and the “brothers” from the Bahamas (Jazz and Lucius) warm our hearts this week, as does too-soon BF Christian Pache. Carlos Rodón is a bright spot in Pottymouth’s otherwise IL-troubled boyfriend team, and we are officially on Adley Watch.

The Yankee Letter disappoints, and we may have taken the fun out of your holiday party. On one hand, Mexican baseball is big fun – see Junior Lake stealing all the bases at once, on the other, the LMB is the land of  second chances for abusers. The new CPBL team brings the green! Over 1000 minor leaguers petition MLB for Spring Break paychecks, as a baby step to unionization. We continue to try not to judge City Connect uniforms, but ESPN has no such restrictions. And your hosts are super happy in the basement.

We say “Kiké pants,” “Going down rabbit holes with tequila,” and “It's a good thing that I’m well oiled for this one.”

    Beer with Grammy Pat

Upon further review, Adalberto Mondesi gets the Royals boyfriend nod from Pottymouth and Patti makes another early, bold choice for ROY with Bobby Witt, Jr. For the Marlins, Pottymouth hopes for A+ with Avisaíl Garcia, and your hosts want to have a beer with the maternal grandmother of Patti’s pick, Jazz Chisolm. As the lockout continues, there’s more time to explore the economics of it all, discuss the effect on injured players, and fill that last remaining manager gig with the A’s promotion of Mark Kotsay.

Who could predict that the Staten Island Yankees would provide the bridge between the welcome news of the Pirates hiring of development coach Caitlyn Callahan, and Police Blotter coverage of the antitrust lawsuit against MLB? International baseball brings us players giving back in LIDOM, LMP showing its range from “Mujeres en el Diamante” down to a wobbly umpire, and LPBRC bringing in some favorites, along with welcoming back fans. We tease our upcoming interview with none other than the NCiB legend that is Pottymouth’s dad. We say “outfit,” “King of Staten Island,” and “naked, horizontal agreement”

Episode 15: Dolphins Fans Q&A, Predicting the Miami Heat's Final Record, Tyler Herro, & How Marte's Injury Affects the Miami Marlins

Episode 15: Dolphins Fans Q&A, Predicting the Miami Heat's Final Record, Tyler Herro, & How Marte's Injury Affects the Miami Marlins

(02:12) Miami Dolphins fans chime in for a Q&A session ahead of the 2021 NFL draft. I took some great Dolphins questions from other loyal Dolphins fans via Twitter, which was a lot of fun!

(22:00) My thoughts on the Tyler Herro criticism, praising the great play from Dewayne Dedmon, diving into the importance of Kendrick Nunn in our rotation going forward, and predicting the final games for the rest of the season as well as our final record.

(41:43) My thoughts on Starling Marte's and Brian Anderson's injuries and how it affects the Marlins, Pablo López with another dominant outing throughout the week, Jesús Aguilar continues to find his groove offensively, and recapping the Marlins games over this past week.

    Hair Above Replacement

    Hair Above Replacement

Your vaccinated co-hosts record in the same room for the first time in over a year! Thank you, science. COVID outbreaks hit the Twins and maybe the Astros, and we can’t help but feel a little told-you-so about Andrelton Simmons. Jake Cronenworth, David Price, and Joe Musgrove are all in the same sentence but not how you’d expect. Joey Votto executes a triple play but we think he could have done better. Andrés Giménez scores 4 runs, 5 hits, and one fight with Adam Eaton who is no longer on Patti’s list of favorite Adams. Willians Astudillo and Shane Bieber get equal time for pitching achievement. Jay Bruce retires after 14 years and deserves a better end.

Will Yasiel Puig end up in Mexico like Patti’s first car? Pottymouth lays out the case for trusting women in this instance of he said/she said. Yankees fans make the police blotter, as does Joe West -- but he’s the winner in this story. Tim Locastro is caught stealing for the first time in his career. We have tales of babies named for superstars (instead of equipment companies), and daddy’s best pitch.

Our grooming segment reviews the Boston Strong Red Sox uniforms, and suggests that Carlos Rodon’s unbuttoned jersey may have contributed to his no-no. Pottymouth proposes “Hair Above Replacement” as a new NCiB stat that needs to be quantified. Extra points for Jazz Chisolm color? Jonathan India’s flow? Great hair in combination with going 4-4 in a game, ala Freddy Galvis? Does philanthropy give the Disney Prince an edge? Pottymouth glows over her CPBL faves, Teddy, Tim, and Brock. Eric Thames explains NPB in a way that makes perfect sense, yet no sense at all.

Episode 14: Another Bam Adebayo Monumental Moment, the Dewayne Dedmon Impact is Real, and the Resilient Miami Marlins are Rollin' w/ Dr. Strus

(02:23) Dr. Strus, @PhillyHeatNBA, joins the podcast to talk about Bam Adebayo's game winning shot and what it means for the Heat at this point in the season, Dewayne Dedmon's impact on the team, and our thoughts on the Heat's inconsistent struggles throughout the season.

(30:16) Miami Marlins take 3 out of 4 against the Atlanta Braves on the road. The offense finally wakes up and continues rollin' into the weekend series against the Giants where they showed resiliency and won 2 games out of 3.

Thank you again to Dr. Strus for joining this week's podcast!
