Ep. 77: Trout is Superman, LaRussa's Last Days in Chicago, Dodgers Clinch, Next Generation Dominating League

Mike Trout's homer run streak ends at seven. The boys kick off this week's episode talking about how his game is taking off to new heights, and how this modern day Superman won't quit, regardless of rumors. White Sox manager Tony LaRussa is recovering from having a pacemaker put in. This seemingly looks to be his last days in Chicago as their skipper. Who will the Sox look to next to lead them if LaRussa steps down? Love 'em or hate 'em, you gotta respect the Los Angeles Dodgers' greatness. Are we looking at a dynasty team? The boys dive into the debate. The next generation of ball players are here and are making themselves known, so the boys give their picks on who are the best rookies this season that'll become the next stars in the league. They round out the show with Fantasy Factory and Collection Corner.

Trade Winds in the Windy City?

Trade Winds in the Windy City?

Blue Jays analyst and former catcher Caleb Joseph comments on what he saw out of Yusei Kikuchi on Thursday, Danny Jansen’s influence on the game from behind the plate, and what could happen between now and the trade deadline for the team (04:46). Later on, ESPN’s Jesse Rogers discusses the trade markets for Ian Happ and David Robertson, his read on the Juan Soto sweepstakes, and looks into how the Cubs and Blue Jays have scouted each other at the minor-league level (29:36). Jeff and Kevin wonder if the Giants’ Joc Pederson could be a player of interest to the Blue Jays in latest edition of Barker’s Back Leg Bits (39:58).

When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong

When Keeping it Real Goes Wrong

In the celebration of Pride happening during the month of June, a hot topic comes across the Gents to start this episode of the podcast. EstoBro stumbles upon an article written by Esquire (2:55) that explains the concept of 'fictosexual' and how they are celebrated by the LGBTQIA+ community. After the cold open, EstoBro welcomes TV back from Germany and gets right into it with a victory celebrated by the video game community. The late coach and legend of football, John Madden, was selected to appear on the cover of the infamous video game his name is on (15:25) as the Gents celebrate the great Madden NFL franchise. EstoBro and TV definitely go down the rabbit hole on talking all things video games (26:00), and how the state of their play is gamers as they embrace their 30s. An interesting topic regarding fantasy sports (42:05), the title of the episode explains the fallout on what happened between professional baseball players Tommy Pham and Joc Pederson with their fantasy football league last year. The Gents also point their attention of an update of the NBA Finals and the Stanley Cup Playoffs, with full favoritism of the local team and the Tampa Bay Lightning (50:00). It has been a while since EstoBro and TV had the munchies during the podcast (65:05), so they definitely talk shop on how summer is here and how grilling season is in full effect. EstoBro also wants to enable the fact that the grilled chicken sandwich should make a contending effort to represent in the 'Chicken Sandwich Wars,' yet TV wants to enable the fact that more sandwiches needs to be included in this gastronomic extravaganza!

    Pride and Prejudice

    Pride and Prejudice

We’ve got a position player pitching! Patti is out with the plague which counts as down by 6 runs, so West Coast Correspondent Deborah joins Pottymouth and her Jamesons-spiked coffee for this week’s show.

We give a rundown on notable Pride month actions including Tampa Bay using the Progress Pride symbol (which is inclusive of black and brown and trans people) but leaving it to an “individual decision by players” as to wearing it or not. The Dodgers celebrate their 9th Glenn Burke Day, wearing pride hats on the field for the first time.  On June 11th, for Pride Day at Oracle Park, the Giants and Dodgers will be the first teams to jointly wear their progress pride hats on the field at same time. The Blue Jays get a nod for availability of gender-neutral bathrooms and donations to a local organization working with their staff on diversity and inclusion. Again the Yankees say “We don’t do any theme nights” and the Texas Rangers are silent.

Meanwhile, the Ohio’s GOP-led house snuck language mandating a verification process for “suspected” trans athletes into an unrelated bill. This subjects any school athlete suspected of being trans to an external and internal examination. This horrific proposal affects everyone and could happen anywhere. It's everyone's responsibility to fight it so vote accordingly. Let the kids play.

Patti’s Nats bf Lane Thomas has a 3 home run game, and former bf Willians Astudillo not only stole a base on May 28, but then pitched a scoreless inning vs the Giants. Former bf (and current West Coast Correspondent bf) Joc Pederson’s 3 home run game, was capped by a single leading to a walk-off win. What lead to his all time great hitting game?  Joc says “Barry Bonds was at the park and I talked to him for an hour.” Tommy Pham calls Mike Trout the worst commissioner in fantasy sports, which proves that Patti is better than Mike Trout with the possible exception of hitting and fielding (although we don’t know that for sure). Xander Bogaerts broke the record for games played at short for Red Sox at 1094.  Give the longest tenured player on the team the C!

Patreon supporter Bryan Jones uses his power for good to remind us all to watch the NCAA College Baseball Tournament. We share his LSU-centric thoughts including players to watch citing sexy defense and exceptional qHar, yet still manage to work in a go Terps! And a Buster Posey mention. Our fantasy league acted locally to punish Aaron Judge for denigrating OPACY. The Kids made their one and only trade ever to rid themselves of the perp, with the Leftovers promising to keep him on the bench.

We say  “All purpose reactionary” “Tampa Bay is the least objectionable part of Florida,” and “Life changing pep talk without wearing pants.”

Ep. 62: Fantasy Slap, Kapler's Distraction, Month of Mookie, Legit or Bull Sh*t of Contenders and Pretenders

The boys kick off this week's episode discussing the weirdest beef in all of sports: Joc Pederson vs. Tommy Pham's fantasy football scuffle. After, they give their perspectives on Gabe Kapler's shunning of the National Anthem on Memorial Day. Mookie Betts is back and the boys declare May the Month of Mookie! Afterwards, they bring back a listener segment favorite Legit or Bull Shit, where they pick which .500 teams (or close to) are contenders and which are pretenders. Same with the current division leaders, which are actually contending and which are flat out pretending? The boys round out the show with Fantasy Factory and Collection Corner.

Episode 156 - They Done Did It

Episode 156 - They Done Did It

After an "uneventful" week, we release our new episode and spend pretty much the whole time discussing one thing: What it feels like to be a champion. The Braves have done it and brought Atlanta another World Series and we couldn't be happier. We also quickly discuss a couple other sports stories, but this is a self indulgent one.

No sponsors, just get the jab, stay alive, and GO BRAVES!

S2 Ep 8 (62): Ayo And The Exciting Bulls, More Reasons To Hate Aaron Rodgers, Justin Fields Watch And The Ex-Cubs World Series

Dan Collins and Joey Gelman begin the show talking about the excitement of the Bulls and their former Illini favorite Ayo Dosunmu's impressive start. They then try to figure out how to watch the Bears moving forward and how we must solely focus in on Justin Fields' development. The guys then shift gears and talk about Aaron Rodgers 'selfishness, idiocy and endangerment of those around him with his vaccine charade. Dan and Joey close the show talking about the surprising 2021 World Series and how some former Cubs led Atlanta to the promse land.

Ep. 33: Astros/Braves World Series Preview, Scherzer's Noodle Arm, Worrying about the Future of MLB Pitching, Griffey Jr.'s Ownership Means More

This week the boys preview the 2021 World Series between the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves. They discuss what both teams will need to do to win. Looking back at the NLCS, Steve calls out Max Scherzer's noodle arm and his letting the Dodgers down, which leads to a deep discussion about the future of pitching in the MLB and how this generation of pitchers are going to be very different from decades past. After, they step outside World Series talk to give Ken Griffey Jr. props for his ownership stake with the Mariners and what that means for their fanbase and possibly other franchises getting star power ownership stakes in years to come. Rounding out the show, the boys talk card trends in Collection Corner.

Seize the Moment to Chop the Chop

Seize the Moment to Chop the Chop

Patti and the Pottymouth break down the evils of the World Series teams and the pros come down to I love Dusty vs. I love those guys. Yup, Pottymouth is in for the Trashtros and Patti throws down for the Hammers. In our efforts to show one team’s terrible is not quite as bad as the other team’s terrible, Pottymouth points out the small number of cheaters still left on the Houston team, and Patti suggests a 437 point plan to eliminate The Chop, including crosstraining with FIFA.

Both LCS MVPs are NCiB boyfriends! Yordan Alvarez, who personally out-hit the entire Red Sox team for a few games, is Patti’s Houston BF this year, and the Hammers’ (and former Guardian) Eddie Rosario, with two 4-4 games, is Pottymouth’s former Twins BF. We have some fun with Kyle from Waltham, Jose Siri’s dance moves, and more details than you knew you needed on Joc’s pearls. We provide a more accurate replacement for the phrase “legal troubles.”

We grade team participation in Spirit Day, to take a stand against bullying of LGBTQ+ youth, on a scale of Rangers to Cardinals. Patti goes Hammers in seven, Pottymouth calls Hammers in six. We say appropriately tipsy, Texas Gay Rodeo Association, and “you’re dead to me.”
