    The Frozen Ground

From 1972 to 1983 serial killer and bakery owner Robert Hansen abducted, raped, and murdered at least 17 women, many of whom he hunted after releasing them into the wilderness. 13 years after Hansen was apprehended, Scott Walker, with the help of Nicolas Cage and John Cusack, brought this story to the big screen in The Frozen Ground (2013).

    Lost Princesses

    Lost Princesses

In this special Showdown episode, Conor and Caroline are continuing their non-Disney cycle with two princess films that dodged a Disney coronation: The Swan Princess and Anastasia. Did the Disney defectors manage to create a film that can compete with the films of the 90s Renaissance or is former animator Richard Rich's adaptation of Swan Lake the next tale as old as time? Let the sweet tones of Liz Callaway take you on a journey to the past to discover if the impact of these films lasts far longer than forever.

    1408 (2007)

Checking in, or checking out? Well folks looks like we check in to room 1408, and we were warned. What a ride this film was, from the creative horror mind of Stephen King and perfect performances by John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson, it fully delivers. I loved this movie as a kid when it came out and it hasn't lost its touch one bit.

America's Sweethearts (Justice for Catherine Zeta Jones!)

America's Sweethearts (Justice for Catherine Zeta Jones!)

This week Zach and Sloane unwrap the 2001 meta rom-com America's Sweethearts! In this movie Catherine Zeta Jones , once again, commands screen presence and takes our breath away, we question how John Cusack landed all of these leading man roles, and why we have to endure yet another female actor adorning a "fat" suit that makes her just look like a typical person. We also expose Eileen Fisher customers for who they really are. And it wouldn't be a Mummy Dearest episode without dieting tips from two people that don't know anything about healthy eating habits. All this and more on this week's episode!

Season 7: Fantastical Realities - Being John Malkovich (Episode 47)

Season 7: Fantastical Realities - Being John Malkovich (Episode 47)

In the forty-seventh episode of Season 7 (Fantastical Realities) Kyle is joined by a panel of guests, screenwriter Gio Maldonado, podcaster Ben Thelen, and fellow cinephile Daniel Lopez, to discuss the satirical and surrealist dive into existential malaise and the illusion of self-actualization in Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman's original and off-kilter comedy Being John Malkovich (1999).

    Ep. 12 The Grifters

    Ep. 12 The Grifters

The Grift is on this week on Scene Stealers. We open The Vault for something new and something groovy. Leo talks about Idris Elba vs. a lion in the ferocious new film Beast, while Charles takes out Roll Bounce and asks for a new evaluation on this guilty pleasure. But the Safe is Cracked for the main event- Stephen Frears wickedly deceptive caper from 1990- The Grifters- which is certainly a new kind of heist movie for Leo and Charles to discuss. With a trio of slick performances from Anjelica Huston, John Cusack, and Annette Bening, every character is looking for the next score, but you can always trust the guidance of Scene Stealers.

    Ep. 28 Stand By Me

    Ep. 28 Stand By Me

    Episode 25 | Identity (2003)

    Episode 25 | Identity (2003)

🍊 For this week's episode we're going with something a little more under-the-radar, and highlighting this twisty, whodunnit thriller from the early 2000s. If you haven't seen Identity yet, I recommend you watch it before listening, but we've kept the first 30 minutes of this episode spoiler-free in case you do want to switch us off and find the movie before finishing. Otherwise, we'll be talking about an array of topics, including the film's stellar ensemble cast, director James Mangold's film repertoire, whether or not the movie works as a successful entry in the murder mystery sub-genre, and of course, we'll also choose which character we think was most deserving to die.
