We all knew it after last nights debacle for @makiaris @chargers can’t give up a @raiders franchise record 63 including a 42-0 halftime deficit.  #raiders lost 4 days ago 3-0 to @vikings beyond embarrassing.  #brandonstaley never should have got the #headcoaching job in the first place IMO.  Still perplexes me that #ericbieniemy still hasn’t got a shot at the title.
#bowlseason starts tomorrow.  The greatest time of the year.
Congrats @texasvolleyball going for back to back chips Sunday vs @huskervb on #abc first time ever.
#ufc296 @leonedwardsmma take care of @colbycovington tomorrow night.  @betterdaysgolfco what a plush and comfy hoodie.  Thank you.

Baker Mayfield speaks his mind, NFL teams trim rosters with season around the corner

The NFL season is right around the corner and the news cycle is ramping up just in time for the new year. Get ready for Week 1 with USA TODAY Sports reporters Safid Deen and Tyler Dragon.

Former Las Vegas Raiders coach Jon Gruden said he is hopeful for "another shot" in the NFL after last season's email scandal. The Buffalo Bills released rookie punter Matt Araiza after he was accused in a civil lawsuit of raping a 17-year-old girl.

On the field, Carolina Panthers quarterback Baker Mayfield has some choice words about facing his former team, the Cleveland Browns. Meanwhile, quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is staying in San Francisco after the 49ers had previously publicly expressed interest in trading him.

The NFL Insiders share their season predictions and Safid offers a special message in memory of the Miami Dolphins Vice President of Communications Jason Jenkins, who unexpectedly passed away this week.

Welcome to It's a Football Podcast! with USA TODAY Sports+ Insiders Safid Deen and Tyler Dragon. Each week the insiders take you to the field and behind the scenes covering every X and O because they know football.

    But, what's it called?

You see that pic of #tigerwoods leg post surgery?  How is he playing golf?
@yankees lost a tough one last night and #nastynestor gave up 3 HR’s in 5-4 loss to @raysbaseball to fall to 50-18.  Can’t win them all.
#naomiosaka could be the next billionaire teaming up with #lebronjames and starting her own production company.  Everyone has a story to tell.

#lgr tonight baby. @nyrangers can they finally beat the @canes who are 6-0 at home?  #noquitinny #stanleycupplayoffs always great. @coloradoavalanche blew 3-0 lead behind #nathanmckinnon hat trick for Avs but @stlouisblues win in OT. Can they come back from 3-2? Why not!
RIP #reggiewarford first Black player to play 4 years for @kentuckymbb #bbn
Love the advice from former @mlb pitcher @corygearrin about having kids specialize in one sport.  Better to play multiple sports and develop overall athleticism.
