This week, the guys chat with well known apologist, author and speaker Josh McDowell on the pervasiveness of porn, and how to effectively deal with it in and outside of the church.

Porn is an epidemic and it affects us all!
The affects of porn are far reaching and building awareness of its prevalence and the way it damages us all is a key part in moving towards health. Porn causes both men and women to lose purpose and to lock up hearts so that it is harder to give and receive. It also disconnects us from God in that we build up a wall of shame and guilt that we have a hard time giving over to God. But he wants to heal us and restore us - and that hope is there for us all through Jesus!

The church can be a bridge of hope and help!
Church leaders, pastors, and seminaries need to become educated to the point that they can have an understanding of how to help someone battling a porn addiction. Creating space to talk about this struggle as well as having active and present help are key in building up people torn down by porn. The stories of freedom that can come from this would help in moving people forward and bringing hope to people in distress.

Parents need to become educated!
The porn industry is actively seeking out children to become users of their product and to become entangled in addiction so that they are ongoing repeat customers. As parents, we need to become educated to this and to understand that the first point of contact on average is around the ages of six or eight years old. We need to build a safe environment where a child can share what they have seen with us without fear of being reprimanded or shamed.
