In Romans 2:28, the Apostle Paul said: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. What does this mean?

Does it mean that the law is now of no use to us? Does it mean that believing in the Messiah alone without obedience  still makes us righteous? Or are we free to live in sin because "Jesus is our righteousness?"
