It seems to him like nothing can get worse until the heat goes up, the bugler plays swim call, and all two hundred campers are rushed to the lake for all camp swim. Caleb looks for Matthew, but he is making friends with the kids in his unit and does not seem interested in playing with Caleb. After Caleb tells him this, Matthew decides to make things right, and seeks Caleb out: wherever he is. Since he's spending so much time with Caleb, Max is very upset with Matthew, and an exciting time at camp as best friends is ruined by Max's jealousy and Matthew's stubbornness. Finley arrives with Anne, Jen, and Jake for a few days of Me and My Mum camp, where she's put in the bunkhouse with the other young kids. Finley begins to make friends with the other children, but is dismayed when she realises that she may not ever see them again after camp. Despite all of these conundrums, can Matthew, Caleb, and Finley enjoy summer camp?

Season 5 Ep 11: Baby feet kicking you out of bed

Season 5 Ep 11: Baby feet kicking you out of bed
Tamara kicks off the episode by sharing about her productive day, even if it started by sleeping in. A friend might have been surprised that she could even sleep in till 10:00 am.  Tamara's heart might have fluttered today trying to transition from a hot laundry room to a freezing cold AC living room. Rheannon has some exciting news of picking up a kayak to keep building her Armada. In less fun, although just as hilarious, news Rheannon was woken up with baby feet to the gut. Turns out she was kicked out of bed by a toddler. To be fair he is spunky and a very large toddler. The struggle of losing TV remotes continue for everyone. Tamara shares her solution of just unplugging the TV, when she is ready to sleep nothing will stop her! This episode goes downhill fast.

WiseEye Tech | Amongst The Monks

WiseEye Tech | Amongst The Monks

This week we're amongst the Monks at the WiseEye Tech HQ in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana. We have the owner Harold Monk tell us the story of WiseEye and how a country family started a technology company. We also speak with Megan Monk and the role she plays in the family business. Finally, we have our editor and producer Colton Monk on the mic to talk about what he does for WiseEye and also all he does for Southern Roots Outdoors. It's a bit longer than our normal podcast but it's an easy listen as the family has some great stories to tell.

Paddle Bored to Death (Lifetime Movie)

Paddle Bored to Death (Lifetime Movie)

This week’s Lifetime movie — the accurately titled, “Deep Blue Nightmare” — has Sarah and Mary questioning if Lifetime really knows much about the ocean, maritime safety, or life in general. Guys, it really was a nightmare. Mary’s convinced they sourced the shark from a Chuck E. Cheese robot graveyard, and she will never accept that anyone would choose to kayak in open seas - especially for hours at a time. Sarah is jazzed with Michael Madsen’s appearance, but is puzzled as to why he’s constantly calmly seated at a kitchen table while his daughter is being circled by a Great White — not to mention his extremely limited understanding of leaving rambling messages on dying cell phones. Sarah and Mary also agree that bringing a makeup artist to an underwater photo shoot is pointless.

    LONO Tarpon

    LONO Tarpon

A lot of people think making pretty pictures is easy. In this episode, the 17th installment of the Beneath the Surface podcast, Corey and Sean set out to prove this theory wildly incorrect. To do so, they unveil the story behind the product launch of the LONO—BOTE’s revolutionary inflatable fishing kayak.

The backstory all has to do with a fish. The tarpon, to be exact. A long silver prehistoric-looking beast that Sean has a long complicated love affair with. The tarpon is Sean’s Moby Dick. For 10 years, he tried to catch one of these “8-pound minnows” and never did. He’d sometimes hook one. But hooking one, and reeling one in proved to be not so similar things.

The tarpon also happened to be the inspiration behind the design for the LONO, with tarpon scales decorating the hull in a bold blue, orange, and black color scheme. So it made sense that the tarpon (fish) would be a central fixation for the Tarpon (product).

In Beneath the Surface Podcast: LONO Tarpon, Sean walks us through his journey to finally catch a tarpon, both on a rod and on camera. Tune in to hear how it went.

    Who’s in the Episode

Lead Designer, Co-Founder, and CEO at BOTE, Corey Cooper is a licensed engineer hailing from Auburn University. Corey is the pioneer of the DarkRoom, assisting with the design of the machinery, concepting the layout and ultimately developing the workflow used in DarkRoom production. Corey’s passion for this project is so strong that on any given day, regardless of how busy things are at BOTE, you will often find Corey working in the DarkRoom.

Sean Murphy is the Director of Photography at BOTE and a world-renowned photographer based in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. After spending most of his career based in Los Angeles, shooting for brands like Adidas, Red Bull, and Toyota, just to name a few, Sean moved back to the Redneck Riviera. You can find Sean capturing gritty America and spontaneous moments that translate into visually stunning photography.

“Being older now, I understand: shit doesn’t always go your way. But it’s so rewarding when you put in all the extra effort and pre-work, and then if it happens… It’s epic.” — Sean Murphy, Director of Photography at BOTE

“You have an idea of what you want to happen. And from experience, I know that if you’re open-minded things will always work out and generally they always work out better. Even if you don’t catch a fish, it goes into something else that we didn’t expect.” -- Sean Murphy, Director of Photography at BOTE

“I just worked really hard at it. And eventually, this one took 10 years to catch the tarpon on the product that we needed to catch it on, in the right way. But it happened. The lighting was amazing. The water was clear. The fish was pretty.” -- Sean Murphy, Director of Photography at BOTE
