#100 The Game of Life: The Complete Family Life Insurance Package

#100 The Game of Life: The Complete Family Life Insurance Package

We understand that you love your insurance company, or maybe you have no real feelings about them at all. Consider that a broker has access to many companies with even more policies and can not only find you the best prices, but the best service and the right coverage for your specific needs.

Steve Renteria from Steele Insurance Agency came on to talk about how crucial it is to have the right coverage whether your single or married with kids.  He is incredibly informative and doesn’t hold back his advice on the show.  These are just some of the questions you will hear Steve answer.

    1. What’s the difference between a broker and a provider like a State Farm or Allstate?
    2. Let’s talk about liability.  This is a big one especially when you have a home and family.  First, how does liability protect the homeowner?  What’s covered?
    3. How much liability does a family need to make sure that anything that happens in their home is covered?
    4. Ok, now the main income provider is a business owner.  What kind of insurance does he need to have to protect his business if it’s a service provider like a Real Estate Agency?
    5. Alright, at this point the kids are getting older and that magic age of 16 hits and the oldest wants to drive.  What types of coverage do you recommend for a family with multiple cars and a young driver?
    6. Can you explain what uninsured motorist coverage is and why we need it so badly in California?
    7. How much life insurance do you recommend that a family provider have first if he’s just married and then if it should change when he has kids?

#97 The Top 20 Listener Questions About Divorce

#97 The Top 20 Listener Questions About Divorce

We love listener questions, because we can be sure to get you the exact information you're looking for from our TLP(Trusted Local Professionals).   In this show we focused on listener questions about divorce and brought on mediation expert Colleen McNamee from McNamee Mediations to answer them.

Some of the questions we asked Colleen:

    • I have a girlfriend who has been divorced for years, the kids live 90% of the time with mom, not only does her X still take the tax deduction for the kids but he also takes it for the home that he no longer even owns! My girlfriend has no idea what to do and this has been going on for like 10 years!

    • My husband and I are constantly arguing about money.  He’s a frivolous spender and I just want to make sure everything’s paid on time.  I still love him, but I’m fed up and ready to leave.  Is it possible to mediate my way into staying married?  How do I get him to see where I’m coming from?

    • I’m currently going through a divorce and the lawyers are costing a fortune and creating problems where there are none.  Will you work with my soon to be ex-wife’s lawyer if I were to hire you?  How does that work?

    • How long would a mediation take compared to if I hired a lawyer?  I would like it to be over quickly and with as little hassle as possible.

    • My husband makes a lot of money and now that we’re separated, he’s spoiling our kids and we haven’t even started divorce proceedings.  I think he’s overcompensating, but it’s really going to cause problems.  What can I do?

    • How do I talk to my kids about someone that I’m dating?  When is it appropriate to do so and is it a discussion that should include my ex?  We’ve stayed pretty friendly.

    • I have a very expensive divorce agreement and just lost my job.  What happens now?  Does it get suspended or re-assessed?

    • My ex-wife and I have 2 young children together and she holds them hostage and won’t let me see them per our agreement, when we argue.  I don’t want to go back to court.  What should I do?

    • My ex and I have a parenting agreement, but we didn’t go through the courts. Now we’re starting to fight about the terms.  Is it time to go legal with the plan?
