Mewz started out under the name A Voice in the Mountains, we were on the morning show with Farron and Scott on WSGS 101.1 out of the Queen City of the Mountains, Hazard Kentucky. 
The show began as a friendly singing contest among local musicians who hadn't previously been featured on radio.  Over one thousand people voted in our first round, and I knew I had found a formula that could , if nourished, provide a platform for vast amount of talent hidden in the coalfields.  
Our first episode featured Eddie Jenkins, a musician, father and now magistrate in in home county. Eddie's understanding of music and appreciation for the process grew naturally over a number of years and he is currently nominated for a 2024 Appalachian Arts and Entertainment Award for best Cover Band or Variety Act with his band The 606.
