Moses does not fight with them but tells them to wait until tomorrow, forGod will show the people who the rightful leader is. Psalm 55: When History Repeats

    Psalm 55: When History Repeats

    Psalm 55 (New International Version)

Andrew and Edwin consider the imprecatory nature of some of David's statements in Psalm 55. They remind us of what we learned in Season 2 about the nature of imprecation in the psalms. In this conversation, they notice the imprecatory statements don't come from a vacuum, but from the history of God's people.

    Yahweh’s Judgment and Mercy – Numbers E5

    Yahweh’s Judgment and Mercy – Numbers E5

God chose the Levites to take care of the tabernacle, and within the tribe of Levi, he picked Aaron’s family to have the special duty of offering sacrifices and burning incense. In Numbers 16, a Levite named Korah and 250 Israelite leaders accuse Aaron and Moses of setting themselves above everyone else. What’s going on here? In this episode, Tim and Jon discuss the story of Korah’s rebellion, God’s judgment and mercy, and the responsibility of the leaders God chooses.

    Psalm 49: Ransomed from Sheol

    Psalm 49

We can't afford enough money to ransom our lives from the power of death. Good News! God can. Andrew and Edwin highlight the most important contrast within this psalm. Of course, the cost of our ransom wasn't paid in silver and gold. It was paid with the blood of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 49: Who is Your Shepherd?

    Psalm 49

We all remember "The Lord is my Shepherd." How many of us remember, "Death is my shepherd." Yet, that is essentially what Psalm 49 says is the case for some people. Andrew and Edwin discuss the two options we have for our Shepherd. Surely, you can already tell which one they will favor.

    Psalm 49: Only One Master

    Psalm 49: Wisdom and Understanding

    Psalm 49: Wisdom and Understanding

    Psalm 49

The sons of Korah move away from lament and praise and into wisdom. Psalm 49 has all the markers of wisdom literature, sounding very much like the beginning of Proverbs. Andrew and Edwin discuss the nature of wisdom and understanding, how important they are for us, and what the main wisdom in this psalm really boils down to.

    Psalm 48: The City Foursquare

    Psalm 48: The City Foursquare

    Psalm 48

Andrew and Edwin take a step back and notice the entire series of psalms that have been labeled as from the Sons of Korah. They seem to tell a story. But there is one weird psalm smack in the middle. It was that wedding psalm. They consider that this is a foreshadowing that the city of God is actually His bride. This, of course, takes them to Revelation 21-22, the bride city of God, the new, heavenly Jerusalem. Of course, this refers to Christ's church. This is us. Praise the Lord!

Psalm 48: Things that Can Be Shaken

Psalm 48: Things that Can Be Shaken

    Psalm 48

We've already seen that Jerusalem will not remain the joy of all the earth. It's future (from the perspective of Psalm 48) is up and down. But ultimately, Jerusalem would be destroyed in 70AD at the hands of the Romans. Andrew and Edwin take a look at what that means for the church and what is the special city of God now.

Psalm 48: The Joy of All the Earth?

Psalm 48: The Joy of All the Earth?

    Psalm 48

The son of Korah called Jerusalem the joy of all the earth. However, it doesn't always stay that way. In fact, Andrew and Edwin to a time when someone decried that this city could ever have been called the joy of all the earth. We start to see Jerusalem's fall from grace. Why did that happen? What does it mean for us?

Psalm 48: The City of Our God

Psalm 48: The City of Our God

    Psalm 48

Jerusalem, Mt. Zion, the city of David, Mt. Moriah, the threshing floor of Ornan. All are talking about the same place. The place where God chose to let His name dwell. And what a name. Jerusalem was the city of the Great King. What made Jerusalem special was its special inhabitant. Andrew and Edwin consider a little of the history of Jerusalem and of its theological significance.

Andrew and Edwin home in on the shocking ending of Psalm 47. God is not only the King of all the earth and all the nations, but all the nations become part of Abraham's people. This psalm looks forward to Gentile inclusion in the commonwealth of Israel as found in Christ's church, through Christ's sacrifice.
