    Episode 54 - The Eternals on Disney+

On this episode of the show co-hosts David Tavolier and Joshua Witsaman kick things off with a bit of news, a smattering of chit chat, and a quick follow-up regarding last week's episode.

    Episode 55 - Eternals

    Episode 55 - Eternals

This movie starts with a scroll? We are screwed.
Well, let's get into Eternals anyway!

Did we need to see ALL of the civilizations the Eternals have been through?

Kingo's power is literal finger guns. WTF?

How many words does Angelina Jolie actually speak in this movie?

Why didn't they turn Sprite into an adult and save her from high school?

Why is Kumail not at the end of this movie? Was it a scheduling conflict?

Who is John Snow in this Marvel Universe?

Are you Team Ikaris or Team Sersi?

Episode 266: If Someone Asks If You’re An Eternal, You Say Yes!

Episode 266: If Someone Asks If You’re An Eternal, You Say Yes!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe enters the next phase of its current phase with Eternals, Chloe Zhao’s now follow-up to her Oscar-winning Nomadland. Erik Childress brings back comic book expert, Erik Laws, to dive into the comic’s history as well as the film which has drawn quite the discourse from critics. Has Marvel fatigue reached an apex where even the only second woman to ever win Best Director can’t satisfy the longing for something different? Childress leans into this part of the discussion as varying opinions about the film itself continue on the show, though maybe not the way you expect.

    Movies!

    Movies!

In this episode: The Lovebirds (2020); Impractical Jokers (2020); Sonic the Hedgehog (2020); Uncut Gems (2019); The Hustle (2019); Ad Astra (2019); The Kitchen (2019); Larger Than Life (1996); A League of Their Own (1992); The Silence of the Lambs (1991); 'Poned!; Huh, That Was Interesting!; Man, Are We Old?!

    Episode 103: - The Lovebirds & Rocketman

    Episode 103: - The Lovebirds & Rocketman
Laughs roll in Netflix's 'The Lovebirds', a refreshing rom-com about two star-crossed lovers (played by Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae) who are forced to put aside their rocky relationship to solve a goofy murder and clear their names. Also, Taron Egerton delights in 2019's 'Rocketman', the music biopic about Elton John's challenging childhood, ultimate undoing, and the man he became along the way. Finally, Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' gets a new trailer in unexpected places, the Safdie Brothers sign deal with HBO, and what's happening with the Snyder Cut?

Episode 68: - Stuber & Under the Silver Lake

Episode 68: - Stuber & Under the Silver Lake
This week in Movie News, a surprisingly large subsidiary of 21st Century Fox falls by the wayside in the wake of Disney's takeover, Lashana Lynch (a woman - gasp!) is rumored to play 007 in the next James Bond film, and young up-and-coming actor Austin Butler is cast to play Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann's upcoming biopic about The King. Odds are two of these stories are good for Hollywood, and at least one has gotta be bad. Tune in to find out which is which!

Moving into Reviews, Andy spills the beans on the new action-comedy film 'Stuber' starring Dave Bautista and Kumail Nanjiani, and the guys talk about why the film works, and ultimately, why it's shared release date with 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' is putting the brakes on this car-based comedy. Rest assured, one day Stuber will come to streaming services, and when it does, it's well worth the price of admission. In the meantime, tune in to find out whether or not it's worth a trip to the theater.

This week on The Trailer Park, the guys review the trailers for Disney's 'Mulan' and Matthew Vaughn's third entry in the 'Kingsman' cinematic universe (ha ha) with 'The King's Man.' Which one of these films is destined to be a soulless spin on an otherwise washed-out franchise? We haven't seen the films yet, but we've seen the trailers and we've got hot takes!

Finally, Zach dishes on the new A24 film (available on Amazon Prime) 'Under the Silver Lake' from the director of 'It Follows,' David Robert Mitchell. It's a tough watch, and though it's constant tributes to the Hollywood of old may bolster some audiences, it's surrealist approach to generational divides have most audiences reeling. Or at least, that's what Zach thinks. Strap in for some bold cinema, folks - Andy comes out swinging on this one!

Episode 20: - Avengers Infinity War & The Big Sick

Episode 20: - Avengers Infinity War & The Big Sick
Andy & Zach discuss the potential for cinematic growth in Disney's 'Solo' (along with a handful of other summer blockbusters slated to come out in the next few months) before digging into Marvel's latest foray into cinematic history with 'Avengers: Infinity War' and weighing the merits of 'based-on-a-true-story' films in last year's academy-award-nominated romantic comedy 'The Big Sick'.

New Music Videos; South Asian Interracial Relationships in TV & Film - IP 85

New Music Videos; South Asian Interracial Relationships in TV & Film - IP 85

This week we discuss the film, television, music AND music videos that have grabbed our attention!

First up, we highlight some of our favorite new music videos from Jay-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Grimes featuring Janelle Monae. These artists are creating work that's thought provoking and gorgeous.

Then, we discuss the depiction of South Asian interracial relationships on television and in film. Our conversation is inspired by a recent article that critiques the lack of Asian love interests in the works of South Asian creators like Aziz Ansari, Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani and Hasan Minhaj. We tackle the issues of personal expression, cultural responsibility and the need to see Brown Love on the screen.

Finally in The Big Sell, Amita rates Sam Dew's cover of the Bill Withers song "Use Me" and then she gives what Sean calls, "the greatest big sell in the history of the show!" It's not because of what she sells - but how she sells it. Let's just say Sean likes it when Amita shares personal info.
