    Episode 124: Belle Gunness

    Episode 124: Belle Gunness

Her poetic words lured lonely men with promises of wedded bliss.  Belle Gunness, a Norwegian American widow, had a knack for attracting wealthy suitors.  Twice” widowed”, Gunness and her children settled on an Indiana farm in the late 19th century.  When bachelors who showed up at her farm started disappearing, she had some explaining to do.  It is possible that Belle was responsible for as many as forty murders.  If a female serial murderer intrigues you, this is an episode you don’t want to miss.

    The Bill Whitbeck interview

    The Bill Whitbeck interview

Heading over to San Marcos, Texas today for my interview with base player Bill Whitbeck of the Robert Earl Keen Band. Bill is in the studio to talk about his Texas roots - growing up in La Porte, how he was inspired to play the bass; and later to jamming with John Lee Hooker, George Strait and Steve Marriott, frontman for Humble Pie; how he joined Robert and his legendary band and the band's new music. Bill also talks about his work with the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame House Band - and jamming with Roseanne Cash, Ry Cooder, Elvis Costello and more on stage. Bring her prickly pear margaritas and tune in!

17 - La Porte, IN (Why Won't You Love Me?!)

We're breaking pattern in Episode 17 for Rachel to take on a solo episode. The murderous black widow, Belle Gunness, and her 40+ victims deserved an episode of their own. Listen in to hear how she lured men to her farm and then *poof* they disappeared without a trace...
