    Lamayuru: Moon on Earth

The Indian town of Lamayuru transports you directly to the moon. Popularly known as "Moonland", this place doesn't look like a part of our planet. Its unique features have sometimes been attributed to fables and sometimes to concerning facts. Scientists researching other planets also visit Lamayuru.

So, what makes Lamayuru "out of this world"? Do more such places exist on Earth? What questions does Lamayuru raise for us and for future generations? Find out in this episode of India Classified only on the Red FM Podcasts Network.

    Untravel Ladakh with Abhishek Vaid

    Untravel Ladakh with Abhishek Vaid

This week, The Musafir Stories speaks to traveller, entrepreneur and content creator Abhishek Vaid from the Untravel Show!

Today's destination: Ladakh, a Union Territory in India

Nearest Airport: Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport - IXL

Nearest Railway Station: Jammu Tawi Railway Station (JAT)

Prerequisites - Inner line permit may be required depending on your itinerary

Packing - Pack warm clothes, depending on the time of the year; medications for AMS

Time of the year - Winter (November to Jan) and monsoons (June to Aug) are ideal time to visit

Length of the itinerary: 8-10 days

    Itinerary Highlights:

    1. Abhishek takes us on another untravel expedition, exploring Ladakh in his signature “untravel” style - soaking in experiences rather than checking off bucket lists. But first things first - acclimatisation in order to avoid AMS

    2. Abhishek spends time with the family, learning about their livelihoods, living the simple village life and exploring the local points of interest.

    4. Some interesting local cuisine and dishes Abhishek tries include Thukpa (soupy noodles), momos or mokmoks, Chuttagi (soupy pasta), Yarkhandi Pulao (originating from China and brought to India through the silk route), Churpee (dried cheese based chips), Apricot jams, Changg (local beer) and much more.

    5. Another stop on the untravel experience includes a visit to Nubra but looking at experiences beyond camel rides and ATV rides. The experience includes living in a luxury property called Kyagar

    6. Follow the Untravel show on Youtube to see other experiences in Ladakh including Pangong Tso, Stok Village and more food experiences in Leh.

THE KILL CHAIN And Why India Should Be Worried| Data Bites| What Does The Data Say| China Border

THE KILL CHAIN And Why India Should Be Worried| Data Bites| What Does The Data Say| China Border

"The term kill chain is a military concept, framework, strategy or a doctrine – you may call it by any name - that identifies the all the possible structures of an enemy attack. It consists of: identification of target, dispatching of forces to target, initiation of attack on target and; the destruction of target. Conversely, the idea of ""breaking"" an opponent's kill chain is a possible method or doctrine of defense which would then dictate either preemptive actions or combative actions. Lockheed Martin has developed a parallel framework for cyber warfare - the Cyber Kill Chain. Subsequent to the 2013 Target Corporation data breach, in which millions of accounts were compromised, the US government has become serious to the threats of cyber crimes, and more particularly - cyber warfare. However, US is fast losing the ground to China US military and cyber security lags that of China. This is according to Christian Brose who mentions the minute details in his book THE KILL CHAIN. Brose was the principal advisor on national security and military issues Senator John McCain. Senator McCain at that time was the Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. In that position, both of them had access to sensitive Pentagon information. And one such information was that China had gone ahead of the US in conventional and cyber warfare. According to Brose, for years the Pentagon had hidden this information from the US Government as well as from the American people. What did McCain tell the Senators? Checkout this video. Why India should be worried? Again, check out this video.

Engineering ka chamatkaar : Barf ka Stupa

    Engineering Marvel: Ice Stupa

Frozen water can and does act as a lifesaver in arid and parched Ladakh. The ingenious way to store water by freezing it during the winters. The ice accumulates to take a shape that's close to the traditional chorten and is named as Ice Stupa by its creator Sonam Wangchuk. While visiting Leh it can be a familiar site only if you are there in early summers.

Native Americans ka gadh : New Mexico

Native Americans ka gadh : New Mexico

In the Land of American Indians

Deep inside the US state of New Mexico the native Americans find safe havens in their reservations. However, they are just the last remaining outposts where these people try to hold on to their rich heritage and culture in an atmosphere of hyper globalization. Marginalized in the land of their ancestors they are silently slipping into oblivion.

Himalaya ki ek barfili raat : Pang

Himalaya ki ek barfili raat : Pang

A chilly evening in the Himalayas: Pang

Cold is all pervasive. Piping hot tea turns cold in a blink. Hands lose their sensation even when put on burning metal and despite wearing layers of clothes cold pierces your bones. It's your average night at Pang during autumn. It was one such night when friends betrayed one of their mates while he fought an intruding rat in his sleeping bag.

Can China and India Get Back on Track?

Can China and India Get Back on Track?

The China-India relationship remains strained as the year-and-a-half long standoff in eastern Ladakh continues. The border issue coupled with tensions over the COVID-19 outbreak pushed India to decouple from China, limiting Chinese investment in Indian tech companies and banning many of Beijing’s most successful mobile applications. At the same time, India has renewed its commitment to the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, bolstered its defense partnerships with Australia and Japan, and become more active in Indian Ocean maritime security. Can the two countries find common ground despite lingering tensions? And what do deteriorating China-India relations mean for the United States’ approaches to the world’s two most populous countries?

During a live recording of the China in the World podcast, Paul Haenle spoke with Han Hua, Director of the Center for Arms Control and Disarmament at Peking University's School of International Studies, and Darshana Baruah, associate fellow with the South Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. This panel is the first of the Carnegie Global Dialogue Series 2021-2022 and is also available to be watched online.

Leh Ke Teen Gompa - Thiksey, Hemis aur Stakna

Three Gompas around Leh: Thiksey, Stakna and Hemis
Within 40 kilometers of Leh lie three of the most breathtaking gompas of Ladakh. Stanka for its sheer locational beauty. Thiksey for its modern-day importance and Hemis for her history and innumerable legends attached to it.

Zbayul: The Invisible Village of Ladakh

Zbayul: The Invisible Village of Ladakh
"In 1948, as India was fighting Pakistan in Kashmir, the Pakistani army reached this village but bypassed it completely. Simply because hidden behind a gorge, with just one access point, the village was invisible to them. Legend has it that when the army of a neighbouring kingdom tried to invade the village, they were greeted with huge boulders falling off the gorge, which forced the army to retreat. This week, in the ninth episode of Kashmir diaries, we travel to Ladakh and witness one of the most interesting experiments in local heritage conservation, housed in a 500-year-old home.

Bharat Ki Sabse Uchi Vedhashala - Hanle

Bharat Ki Sabse Uchi Vedhashala - Hanle

    India's highest astronomical observatory: Hanle
Perched like a bird on a hilltop where the sky is clear for more than 300 days in a year, Hanle presents a breathtaking view of the round valley. It seems you have walked directly onto the sets of Star Wars movies. The presence of a village of subsistence farmers and a Buddhist monastery makes the contrast an enduring memory for the visitor.

    Kahani Ladakhi Shabdo Ki

    Kahani Ladakhi Shabdo Ki

You need to speak the language or eat the food to connect with the local population. Ladakh is no different. But here the simple but noble people open their hearts if you utter just one word. What's that word? Listen to it in the IVM podcast.

Pahado Ka Hira - Pangong Lake

Nestled within the brown, yellow mountains of Ladakh with white clouds dotting the azure blue sky, is the mysterious Pangong Tso or Lake. Spreading from India deep into the Tibetan Plateau, this beautiful water body is visited by the tourists who are more interested to click the film trivia left behind by the shooting crew from Bollywood.

Ep. 476: India-China Ties: The Strategic Dimension

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said this week that the relationship with China had been “significantly damaged” this year.
