Battle of Valcour Island with Jack Kelly

Jack Kelly, author of Valcour:  The 1776 Campaign that Saved the Cause of Liberty tells us about this critical--and nearly forgotten--naval battle on Lake Champlain.  It was not an American victory--but it did prevent the British from moving down the Hudson and winning the war.  Find out how Benedict Arnold built a fleet in the summer of 1776 to slow down the British invasion, and make victory possible.

Catching trophy smallmouth bass on a consistent basis can be a challenge.  So many techniques and so many different patterns can sometimes make it confusing where to start when targeting smallmouth bass.

Each Sunday join Travis Manson as he interviews guests who are at the top of their game when it comes to catching smallmouth bass.Season 1 Episode 48 Travis talks with Brett Carnright.  Brett has been extremely consistent in bass tournaments around the region and knows a thing or two about Smallmouth Fishing.  Not only does he have things dialed in on his home body of water Lake Champlain but is a threat anywhere in upstate New York on lakes like Oneida and The St Lawrence River.  This is a great interview if you are looking at becoming a better smallmouth angler!

Episode 7: Champ & Lake Champlain

Episode 7: Champ & Lake Champlain

Welcome back! In this episode, we discuss Lake Champlain in the North Eastern United States.  Mostly in Vermont, the lake also touches Quebec and New York state. We talk about the history and lore of the lank and discuss the lake's most infamous (possible) inhabitant: Champ! Some believe Champ to be a Nessie-like sea monster, which others believe it could be a giant sturgeon or eel, or maybe even the spirit of a Plesiosaur! Theories and stories abound and we try to cover most of them in this episode! Join our Stranger Happenings Facebook group or follow us on Instagram and Twitter @shpods.  Keep it strange, y'all!

Lake Champlain w/ Kurt Smits and Mike Baird

Lake Champlain w/ Kurt Smits and Mike Baird

In this Episode I am hanging out with Kurt Smits and Mike Baird to discuss the Hobie BOS event on Lake Champlain. We talk about the crazy conditions that actually led to a few capsized kayaks. The grind was tough, but they were both able to finish well. Hang out with us for a bit as we go a little more in depth on the event as well as laugh our butts off at various stories.  Follow The Evolving Angler Podcast facebook page, @The_Evolving_Angler on Instagram.
