Im Februar war Reacher der Serien-Erfolg von Amazon Prime. Es hat leider etwas gedauert, aber Thomas und Stu sagen euch gut zwei Monate nach der Premiere, ob sich ein Blick auf die erste Staffel lohnt. Wegen Arbeitsstress und Gesundheit hat es leider etwas länger gedauert, aber hey, wenn ihr mal mit uns über bestimmte Serien plaudern wollt, dann lasst es uns wissen. Jetzt wünschen wir euch aber erst einmal viel Spaß mit einer neuen Folge Abgebinged.
Episode 221: Reacher: The Book and the Series
English writer, classics teacher, and former police officer, Mark Knowles, joins us to talk about Reacher, the Amazon series; Killing Floor, the book it's based on; and its British author Lee Child. We analyze what's the same or different between the show and the book, what we like about Reacher, and how he resembles a classic Homeric hero. We also talk about stuff that got changed in the show and whether or not we approve (like the thing with the dog and some woke additions), plus some challenges inherent to transferring a monosyllabic loner to the screen. Jack Reacher is a 2012 thriller film featuring Tom Cruise, Rosamund Pike, David Oyelowo, Richard Jenkins, Jai Courtney, Werner Herzog, and Robert Duvall.
Cruise stars as the titular Reacher, a male-fantasy-figure-slash-hobo, and the central character of Lee Child's wildly popular thriller series. In this film, the ex-Army Military Police investigator must team up with a defense attorney in order to dig into a baffling mass shooting. Was this the work of a deranged sniper? Or does a sinister conspiracy have the city of Pittsburgh in the crosshairs?
