Laura Hatfield’s career has had a common thread running through it the last 20 years…community. As the former Director of Community Engagement at the University of Kentucky, Executive Director of the City’s Partners for Youth Program, the Mayor’s ONE Lexington initiative, and now as the Superintendent of Community Engagement with Lexington Parks & Recreation, Laura has always understood that addressing community needs must involve the community.
She has spent her career convening City Government partners, schools, faith partners, non-profit organizations, businesses and neighborhood leaders to tackle issues together. In her current role with Lexington Parks, she works with partners to lead programs and services in parks and recreation facilities.
Laura has lived in Lexington since 1995 where she received her undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky in Family Studies and her Master’s Degree in Community and Leadership Development.
Laura serves on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Board and is a proud Big Sister. She enjoys running and biking with her husband of 20 years, John, and spending time with friends in her favorite coffee shops!
Milan Bush is an environmental educator with 10 years of experience in childhood development and elementary education. From climbing trees to riding bikes to dancing, Milan has found ways to stay active all her life. She has been a physical education coach and Kidstrong Instructor. She has been a fitness instructor for over a decade now and is currently pursuing her 200 hour yoga teacher training certification. When she is not moving her body, she is teaching people many things from all aspects of life.
