Heroes, villains and difficult days at Bolton Wanderers

Heroes, villains and difficult days at Bolton Wanderers

WELCOME back to The Buff Podcast in what has been an emotional week for everyone connected to the club.

Saturday's game against Cheltenham Town was abandoned in tragic circumstances, with the club paying tribute to lifelong supporter Iain Purslow a few days later in the FA Cup replay against Luton Town.

Marc and Henry discuss a difficult few days for the club, debates that have arisen from the media coverage and the support given from the footballing world.

On the pitch there has been plenty to discuss, too. There were some terrific performances against the Hatters, not to mention a few debatable refereeing decisions.

We bring another round of Who Are You - this week with the letter K - and we also look ahead to this weekend's game at Leyton Orient and the rearranged game against Cheltenham.

The Buff presents: Bristol Rovers, Leyton Orient and Mario Jardel-f

WELCOME back to The Buff Podcast, and what will be our final show before Christmas.

Marc and Henry are here to review all the week's headlines at Bolton Wanderers, including another bad day at the office against Bristol Rovers, and - hopefully - and change of fortune against Leyton Orient.

Apologies for any sound issues which you may encounter with Marc's microphone. He has asked for a new one from Father Christmas and is just trying to get it through expenses.

Podcast: Anger as historic war memorial tank in Ashford town centre 'left to rot'

Podcast: Anger as historic war memorial tank in Ashford town centre 'left to rot'

There are calls to restore a war memorial in Ashford - with one military enthusiast calling it "tatty, shabby and unloved".

The British Mark IV Tank sits in St George's Square after being gifted to the town in 1919 when the community raised money to support the war effort. Hear from  John Harris who wants the council to get involved.

Also in today's podcast, a court has heard how a police officer failed to confront a man who was setting a restaurant alight in Margate.

The officer was driving past GB Pizza Co which was destroyed in the blaze last October.

Kent's unemployment rate is continuing to rise with another 320 people claiming out of work benefits in February.

That takes the total to about 37,850.

A dad from Maidstone says he's been left in agony after his hospital appointment was postponed because of junior doctors' strikes.

Michael Howard started suffering from a pain in his hip seven months ago and after several scans he was finally due to be seen last week.

Our reporter Rhys Griffiths has been investigating the former St Augustines hospital near Canterbury to mark 30 years since it closed.

It opened in 1875 and at one time was known as the East Kent Lunatic Asylum. Hear from a former member of staff who has been sharing their memories.

There are calls for more lights to be switched off across Kent so we can appreciate the night sky.

Visit Kent have done a study to mark Dark Sky Week - and found two thirds of us think more should be done to reduce light pollution and energy use. We've been chatting to their chief executive.

And in sport, hear from the Gillingham manager as they welcome top of the table Leyton Orient to Priestfield tonight.

A win for the visitors will see them promoted while victory for the Gills will secure their future in league two next season.

    No Football Makes You Linsane

    No Football Makes You Linsane

In this week's Left Field, Wogan and Allen limp towards the new football season. The spend the first half asking if pre-season tonkings matter, if Gareth Bale should learn Spanish and if Arsenal are subject to a voodoo curse, before debuting new segment Crystal Ball as they make predictions ahead of the Football League season kick-off. Just give us football, man. Then in the usual second half of not football, there's Ireland out-capitulating England in the cricket at Lord's, very wet Formula 1, Sergio Garcia being a dope, Jeremy Lin being sad, and a Top Four of young overachievers – despite Wogan's best attempts to introduce it wrong.
