EP. 243 "Rihanna's Choices and Lesbian Handshakes Unveiled"

Who knew "Mean Girls" could sing? I sure didn't, but there Mr. Royce was, in the audience of the "Mean Girls the Musical," laughing and singing along. And speaking of laughs, ever wonder if a dog meme could spark a philosophical debate about love and necks? Well, buckle up, because we're unpacking that and much more, from the viral Benzino dog meme to the salary study that's got us questioning our values like we're in the hot seat of a game show.

But it's not all chuckles and dog jokes. We get real, discussing the complexities of Jonathan Majors' interview controversy and the bittersweet symphony of societal expectations on public figures. Victim mentality, generational differences, car theft – yeah, we went there. And hold on to your soaps, as we slide into a 'soap and studs' business debate that might just inspire your next entrepreneurial venture or, at the very least, a good scrub down.

Now, if Rihanna's life choices and the infamous lesbian handshake have ever crossed your mind, you're in good company. We're dishing on Rihanna's personal life, the peculiar language of urban slang, and the mystique of the vagina, all wrapped up with the smooth R&B vibes of Raheem DeVaughn. So, whether you're seeking a reality check or just some reality show ideas, we're serving up a smorgasbord of thought-provoking, side-splitting banter. Grab your headphones and join us for an episode that's as unpredictable as it is unfiltered.

017 - Anxiety, and the Pride of Prowling Lions

017 - Anxiety, and the Pride of Prowling Lions

In this week's episode, I'm diving deep into why anxiety is also a spiritual attack, and what happens to it when we succumb to it. I tell the story of what happened to me while I was away on a work trip. Anxiety is no joke, but I had some real clarity on how anxiety is one of the devil's tools--just like addiction--to keep us down and prevent us from doing what we're meant to be doing. It's hard to be fishers of men (and women) when lions prowl around, looking to devour.

Here's a link to John Woods' book that I mention, "Gambling Addiction Explained: How to Stop Gambling and Gain Control of Your Life."

And here's the link to Shawn Johnson's book, "Attacking Anxiety: From Panicked and Depressed, to Alive and Free."

#52 (S2 Epi 21) - The Flying Canoe, Rainbow Flag & BLM Demonstration 300 Feet Over Cathedral Ledge, New Hampshire Episode

#52 (S2 Epi 21) - The Flying Canoe, Rainbow Flag & BLM Demonstration 300 Feet Over Cathedral Ledge, New Hampshire Episode

Canoeing the heights: rock climbers in the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire in the USA performed a high profile, high wire, eye catching demonstration in New Hampshire's White Mountains at Cathedral Ledge on September 5, 2020. Sightseers and curious tourists hiked up the Cathedral Ledge road to see the Rainbow flag representing the LGBQT movement and a huge Black Lives Matter flag flying from the canoe, replete with two paddlers secured safely inside.

The display could be spotted from a mile away and was the collaboration of a couple dozen area and regional rock climbers who endeavored to show the visitors to the valley that all are welcome here, regardless of color, gender identity or sexual orientation.
    .
I live just up the road from this mecca of the rock and ice climbing community. Cathedral Ledge drew me here decades ago to be a forever resident. When I heard about the demonstration I hurriedly packed up my recording gear to capture interviews and raw sounds of the scene. This episode of Baker Street with Thom Pollard brings to you a special Labor Day weekend demonstration of socially conscious individuals who quite literally put it all on the line to make a statement.

Interviews with local climbers included Freddie Wilkinson, Josh Laskin, Mickey Hardt, Alexandra Roberts, Sam Conley, Lindsey Leone and some out of town people who came to see what the buzz was all about.

    Have a listen.
