Mary McCartney On Food TV, Family, And Her Mother’s Legacy

Mary McCartney On Food TV, Family, And Her Mother’s Legacy

Today’s guest is Mary McCartney, the star of Mary McCartney Serves It Up, a charming series on Discovery+. On the show, Mary shares her favorite plant-based recipes and entertaining tips while cooking along with some guests you might recognize, such as Oprah, the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, and Mary’s dad, the one and only Paul McCartney. As Mary explains to host Kerry Diamond, the show is a bit of a transition for her. A well-known portrait photographer, Mary is used to being on the other side of the camera and has photographed everyone from Harry Styles to Taylor Swift to Queen Elizabeth. But food has played a central role in her life. Her mother, the late Linda McCartney, was an early proponent of vegetarianism, and Mary, along with her father and her sister, the fashion designer Stella McCartney, helped launch Meat Free Mondays more than a decade ago. Mary has also written several cookbooks, including At My Table: Vegetarian Feasts for Family and Friends

Today’s episode is presented by Fridge No More.

S1E1 THE BYRDS: DAVID CROSBY Flying High Until The End PART 1

S1E1 THE BYRDS: DAVID CROSBY Flying High Until The End PART 1

In Part 1 of David Crosby: Flying High Until The End, Jimmi discusses the Byrds in the early days, a few of Crosby's idiosyncrasies, and how his behavior eventually became problematic for the band.  From smoking marijuana on an airplane and at a CBS photos session, to playing with Buffalo Springfield at the Monterey Pop Festival as his bandmates watch from the audience, Crosby is starting to pull away.  He seems aloof and detached, and begins distancing himself from the other bandmembers; a prelude of the things to come.

    Some highlights from the show:

    • 00:02:45    Crosby’s Rules of the Road
    • 00:09:30    Tangent: David Cassidy loves koala bears
    • 00:11:03       Crosby’s cape and the Byrds imitating the Beatles
    • 00:15:00      Crosby gets choked out at a tractor convention

Ep. 29: Colts Owner Jim Irsay Remembers John Lennon

Ep. 29: Colts Owner Jim Irsay Remembers John Lennon

Irsay recalls the moment he learned, via Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football, of Lennon’s murder--”a steel sword through the heart”--and puts the event into historical context. The Colts’ owner and music-memorabilia collector settles the debate as to who is the best songwriter of all-time and recalls his indelible 1989 meeting with Paul and Linda McCartney. Meanwhile, Natalie tries to discern which legendary rock star (Pete Townshend or Stephen Stills) her father pissed off more.
