As part of our series ‘For Such a Time as This’, we consider the first generation of Christians. In Acts 1, Luke tells us that as the risen Jesus prepares to return to His Father, He shows them what the Kingdom of God means, He tells them to do nothing without the Holy Spirit, and it quickly becomes apparent that every single one of their small number was necessary for the Mission which lay ahead. As our world today finds itself in a state of ‘permacrisis’, God’s unshakeable Kingdom arises, and He is calling us to embrace the moment for which He has shaped us!

We are called for such a time as this, and this is the time for obedience! Obedience isn’t a fashionable word, it’s not a word that many people would list as a good quality, but God is our shepherd, our master, our God. He deserves and expects an obedient heart that translates to obedient actions. In this message we’ll consider these things and how practically we obey God’s word and His Spirit.

Jesus promised He would build His Church (Matthew 16:18) and in Acts 2-3 we get the first wonderful glimpses of what it looks like!  Here too we discover the kind of church that must arise in the nations “at such a time as this”.  It’s secure, relational, generous, exciting, simple, powerful and miraculous!  And it’s growing every day, because its members take the blessings they enjoy out into the world around them. The call to the church (our church, your church, His church!) at a time of gathering gloom for so many is to “arise and shine” (Isaiah 60:1) - and in this message we consider what that means for us in practice...

This all-age gathering is all about the rainbow and how whenever we see ‘God’s bow in the sky’ we can be reminded of His faithfulness to us in many ways.

Today four families share their wisdom and experience about raising children with additional needs. They talk about how faith has impacted their families and how we can show the love of Jesus to those around us who have additional needs.

Being a Christian means being a part of the body of Christ. Its like the human body in that each part is important and needs the other parts to function effectively and well. We all need each other to grow and this can be demonstrated in our sharing of the Covenant Meal.

‘Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.’ (Pr 13:12).  In this message we consider those things which we had hoped would come to pass, or which we’re sure we’ve been promised, but seem to remain out of our reach, or delayed in their coming. It can have a huge impact on our lives. And in this message, we consider why we experience deferred hope, how it happens, and what God can achieve in our lives through these times. King David knew all about this process, and his confession can also be ours – ‘I would have despaired, had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.’ (Ps 27:13, Amplified)

When Jesus encountered the paralysed man in Mark 2, we read about the faith that was found in his friends, and the faith that was raised in the house. The man was saved and healed, and he walked out carrying his mat - a physical demonstration to all who were watching that Jesus did a miracle in his life. In this message we hear about how we can build a house of faith today; we hear stories of God's goodness and we dream about what a church looks like where we regularly hear the phrase "we have never seen anything like this".

Do we practice what we preach? Mike Shuter pucks out 5 family values that have impacted him as he has seen and heard taught over the years. He encourages and challenges us to consider them afresh and to keep putting them into practice in our lives. 

The story of Jonah and God’s amazing love: exploring the amazing depth and breadth of God’s love and grace towards us, whilst recognising the tension that lies in us ultimately needing to make a choice - are we running from God or running towards Him?

God wants His church to grow!  From the opening verses of the Bible onwards, we discover that fruitfulness and multiplication is at the heart of His plan and purpose. In this message we look at some simple biblical principles and some vital ingredients of church growth. Embracing these things will enable us to be ‘harvest-ready’ in this time of great uncertainty and upheaval in our world.

Reading Psalms 33, 42 and 43, we look at how hope and praise interact and why they are so important to God and us! 

In this all-age gathering, we look at the bible account of Daniel’s life and how, despite his circumstances, he was able to keep his eyes fixed on God’s promise of good for His people.

In John chapter 15, Jesus describes his relationship with his followers as being like a vine and branches. We look at 7 things that Jesus said of himself and his disciples and ask ‘can we bring our own YES’, in faith, to all he says.

Today we look in Luke 7 at the extravagant outpouring of worship to Jesus from Mary who knew Jesus as a teacher, friend, healer and the one with power over life & death. Her revelation as to who Jesus was meant that despite her past, she was saved by faith in Him.
