Give us our daily bread, but please let it be German

Give us our daily bread, but please let it be German

You might think that Germans would mostly miss the beer when they go to the U.S. - but you'd be wrong. What they really pine after is German bread, which is so hearty you might want to refrain if you've just had dental work done. But foreigners living in German grow to love it, too, and woe to those who have to leave the country!

Love you all!

Add a Little Knowledge to Your Bread Baking Process, Autolysis.

Add a Little Knowledge to Your Bread Baking Process, Autolysis.

#002 Learning to bake a decent loaf of bread can take new bakers weeks to capture the basics and a lifetime to perfect.  Though nothing can replace working with professional bakers and learning from what they do and how they interpret what they see, in this episode we share information about something happening during the fermentation process that will support you in making better bread.  We'll also walk through the the basic bread making process and share a little about why flour seems to magically turn into a nice crusty and airy loaf of bread.

    Limited Appeal - Casket Glue

    Limited Appeal - Casket Glue
The intro might make more sense if it came at the end of the episode. But then it wouldn't be an intro, I guess. Anyway, you'll figure out if you can be bothered. And if not, never mind, because we'll distract you by discussing the feats of a Nova Scotian mythical hero. If you think you know why Glooscap is famous, you're probably wrong. Then in Dictionary Plus Warren asks where the phrase "tit for tat" comes from. This leads us to address the long-unanswered question: what do a baloney sandwich and a hamster have in common? Survey your friends and see if anyone can come up with a better solution. If you find one, let us know by email (maskedman@limitedappeal.net).
