Jenny speaks to Beverley Cheng, fitness and wellness entrepreneur, founder of Born To Sweat, and Strong Fitness Magazine’s most recent cover athlete. Beverley shares the story of her struggles with being bullied just for being different, and how being involved with sports and fitness helped her find her strong. She describes how being active with rugby and training built a sense of inner confidence and strength, and empowered her in all aspects of her life. Beverley now lives a life where she approaches her health and fitness goals with a balanced mindset. Her message of strength lies in the belief that each person has the capability to achieve their dream life, as long as they have the inner strength to try and live the dream they imagine.

I get asked all the time where I find the patterns for the quilts that I make. And how do I so consistently find quilt patterns that fit my "theme" or aesthetic when they are from such different designers. And the answer is that I've done the self analysis.
I know, I know. That sounds so extra. And no, it's not some deep version of guilty therapy. Instead, I suggest you start where all great art starts. Pinterest. Duh. Just start pinning. I suggest you start a board where you only pin quilt patterns that you like and would like to try one day.
Then take a step back and really find the commonality in the patterns you chose. Do you prefer traditional blocks? What about color?
Then I want you to find a fabric designer you love. And check out the quilt patterns that they've created to go with their fabric lines. Do you see where I'm going with this?
It's all about exploration. But I love this exercise because not only will you figure out your favorite quilt pattern designers, but you'll find out your quilting aesthetic, your favorite fabric designers, and so much more. This a quilty education rabbit hole and I hope you explore it!
In this episode we start off talking about Little Women - a great version just out now. And then I talk about our school days. It ended up being more about me than my mom. The most interesting part is that I didn't really talk to my parents about the bullying...and I wonder if that is the case for most kids. It wasn't fun to have a girl two years younger pull your hair the whole school bus ride home. And hard to explain the sense of relief when she got off at her home.
In this episode Bill and Kathy talk about the details of how the cabin was built. It still stands to this day 40 years later. I suspect many of people have camped in our cabin found deep i the woods.
It this short episode you will meet my dad Bill who met my mom when I was about 3ish. He and some friends had also moved to the middle of Northern Idaho. It is a beautiful thing that they met each other and a life changing event for all of us.
This episode is so fun! Mom meets Dad and plans her homestead. This is an adventure for sure as Lorien and I learn more about how mom met Bill and also Mom discusses surveying the land to find the perfect spot for the cabin. The bonus episode coming next came from this discussion but deserved it's own -- Mom teases it about half way in!
