    #49 - Lounge Mix - Great Skies

    #49 - Lounge Mix - Great Skies

We're at the third installment of the new chill out show. I found Great Skies when he posted on my Facebook page and was blown away. Just 20 years old, Great Skies is from London and has been shying away from the genres everyone is already making but instead takes a stab at ambient beats. Bringing in a big truckload of UKG and dub elements, Great Skies' sound is absolutely refreshing, especially considering chill out music is so often still dominated by the sound of kitchy 1990's cocktail bars, which we all hate. The intro track Drowning with vocals by Context MC is screaming for a music video to be made for, but until then, just use your imagination and let the images pop up in your head. Let me know what you think of Great Skies' mix of his own work and tell me who you'd like on the show next. Like or dislike the mix, comment and subscribe....as we're just a step away from 5,000 subscribers! Tell your friends and help me get there and I'll keep bringing you the music :) -Panda

    #45 - Lounge Mix - Deeper Sublime

Panda launches the second installment of his new Lounge Mix Show on YouTube with special guest Deeper Sublime.

Hailing from Germany. Deeper Sublime aka Eriq Johnson started in music in 1995. His first compositions were written for theatre plays but gained popularity at musical festivals in Berlin. Mostly working on music for television and advertisements, Eriq actually moved into dance music after 5 years at the dawn of the millenium. Performing all over Europe, Eriq established himself in the DJ circuit.

Now, what is interesting is that Eriq never chose one style over the other. While DJing, he played electro, house, techno and lounge and this continued in his productions. In 2007, he launched his own imprint Musicheads and 2008 saw the start of his lounge project Deeper Sublime. And that's what this mix is all about.

In this mix, Deeper Sublime bring us 7 of his latest tracks, remixes and exclusives in over half an hour. Leave your appreciation for him in the comments!

    #41 - Lounge Mix - Hiatus

    #41 - Lounge Mix - Hiatus

Panda launches the first installment of his new Lounge Mix Show on YouTube with special guest Hiatus.

Hailing from Brixton, UK with an Iranian heritage, Hiatus' musical start began when he learnt to play the piano at the age of five. At university, Hiatus played keyboard in a band called Holy Smoke and then quickly moved on, getting into dance music and actually started to DJ drum and bass - another reason for having him on the show of course ;)

Hiatus self-describes his music as a type of cinematic electronica. It has heavy ambient and chill out influences but luckily does not fall back in to the cliché sounds of lounge. In fact, most of his tracks have a rather deep melodramatic and dark atmosphere about them. Hiatus' work also has a distinct Middle Eastern tint to it and that's for a reason: he travels back to Iran every year to look for records to bring back and sample those in his music.

Last year after hearing her sing in a live show, Hiatus started working with Shura, a singer from London, who he now delivered masterpieces with such as "Fortune's Fool" and "River", both featuring in this mix and coming out on October, 10th, 2011. They are now doing live performances together and working actively on new tracks.

In this mix, Hiatus bring us 14 of his and latest tracks, remixes and exclusives in an almost 1 hour long mix. Leave your appreciation for him in the comments!

Forthcoming from Hiatus are "Fortune's Fool" featuring Shura with a Clubroot remix and a Max Cooper remix of his track "Third". His Ghost Notes LP from 2010 is available now on iTunes: http://j.mp/9Ah6Tb. Tracks 2, 5, 12 and 14 are available as free downloads from http://www.soundcloud.com/hiatus.
