How To Show Up In The Midst Of Suffering

How To Show Up In The Midst Of Suffering

Hey, it’s Jodi here! I’m so excited to share with you some of the new parts of my book, “You Got This - A Guide To Living A Full Life In The Midst Of Suffering.” I originally released my book during COVID, and then our house flooded. Our family went through a lot of difficult things, so eventually I decided it was time to share some of the stories, songs, and scripture verses that helped me get through it all. If you or someone you know is going through a difficult time where they feel like they’ve done everything right and life has still gone wrong, this episode is for you. I’m not promising a neat and tidy bow on the end of everything I say, but hopefully a way through to still show up for your life when everything falls apart. Thanks for listening, hope you enjoy this episode based off of the new You Got This 2023 Edition.

Do It Now Podcast with Special Guest Love And The Outcome

Do It Now Podcast with Special Guest Love And The Outcome
Singer/songwriter Jodi King and her husband, bassist Chris Rademaker, know the feeling of watching the sun set in California. Windows down, U2's The Joshua Tree blaring on the radio, they've felt the rush of warm, dry wind as they cross the desert in the direction of the neon lights of the city. The duo, known as Love & The Outcome, set out to recreate the feeling of that unforgettable setting on These Are The Days, their long-awaited sophomore effort. "There's something about California," Jodi says. "These songs just felt like a sunset there. It felt like dust, like a desert, so we knew this where we needed to start making the record." It was in 2013 that Love & The Outcome debuted their self-titled album with Word Records, and they soon became a mainstay at Christian radio. They toured all over the U.S. and Canada, sharing the stage with artists such as Newsboys, Switchfoot, Lecrae, TobyMac, Jeremy Camp and Francesca Battistelli. But to get there, Jodi and Chris had to walk through a spiritual desert. For years leading up to their first album, they maintained a grueling touring schedule, sold their house and possessions, said goodbye to Chris' mother after a battle with cancer, and hit pause on their promising careers. Yet after many painful stops in their journey, they felt the pull to keep going. They relocated to Nashville from Canada, bought a house, had their first child, and got back on the road.

    HUMAN: Story Behind The Song

    HUMAN: Story Behind The Song

It’s been a minute since we released a podcast, but we have a new song out called HUMAN, and we wanted to share how it came to be.  God is good, life is hard.  It’s not one or the other.  The fact that two things can be true at the same time has held us together over the past few years.  This song encompasses the story of our house flood, how we survived and made it through to the other side.  Although it may sound like a depressing episode, we promise you will feel seen love and uplifted!  Hope you enjoy this conversation.

Why Wilderness Seasons Aren’t All Bad

Why Wilderness Seasons Aren’t All Bad
I’m not sure about you, but wilderness seasons are never something I pray for. It’s just not that much fun being in a season where you lack clarity & purpose, and when you don’t know what’s next. But here’s the good news: Jesus and John the Baptist wandered in the wilderness, so it can’t be all bad! There has to be a deeper purpose to it, and a way to wander well even on our worst days. This realization has helped me so much in a season full of “I don’t know.” Living as wanderers during this flooded-house chapter of life is teaching me a lot, and I wanted to pass along some practical steps that help me show up to my life and keep going even on my worst day. A few of the steps I talk about are: identify what helps you feel put together; tell yourself, “this is hard and that’s ok. I’m normal for finding this hard;” decide who is welcome to wander with you, and lean into God’s surprises and provision. Your worth is not determined by how well your life is going! You are worthy and loved and welcome to be in your wilderness season. Hope this helps you as you wander… P.S. - We wanted to share a quick update about our house. We have felt so supported by all of you and are blown away by your generosity. We’ve decided to elevate our house eight feet and make it flood-proof. This is an expensive endeavor but it will allow us to move back in and sleep at night. The total cost will be approximately $60,000 (including new foundation, elevating, engineer, surveyor, contractor, etc). Any gift is appreciated, we literally couldn’t do this without you. You have been our lifeline. Thanks so much 😆💛🙏🏻 https://www.gofundme.com/f/chris-jodi-flood-relief Sending love, Chris, Jodi, Milo & Ziggy PPS - if you’ve been looking for a way to participate in being light in the world during this COVID season, check out www.lovehealinghugs.com and sponsor a life-changing surgery for a child who desperately needs one! For one dollar a day for a year, you can send a Healing Hug to a little one whose family can’t afford to pay for the surgery. As God continues to provide for you, why not help provide for someone less fortunate than yourself. Love you all, thanks for being so generous!! Heart Like You: A Conversation About Racism

Heart Like You: A Conversation About Racism

We want to press pause on our podcast schedule to talk about how we’ve been listening, learning, grieving and processing the racial injustice towards George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others in the world right now.  It’s been going on for a long time, but we are just now seeing it for what it is, and repenting for God to change our hearts.

We’ve never talked about this before, we aren’t going to have the perfect words to say, we don’t have all the answers but we’re learning.  Our prayer is that this very raw & vulnerable conversation would give you the courage to take a first step towards repentance and fighting injustice in your life.  We want this community to be a place to learn and grow together!

For a long time we told ourselves this wasn’t our issue, but it is.  We need to call racism by name and live the kingdom of God now.  No more passive compassion, it’s time to move into action!  On earth as it is in heaven... there is no racism in heaven; we have a lot of work to do on earth. Let it begin with me.
