EP 154: Out of the Dark - An Abortion Workers Story

EP 154: Out of the Dark - An Abortion Workers Story

    Out of the dark.

Nallely Perez at 14 years old was pregnant. Begrudgingly she chose life for her daughter. But it was not a fairy tale ending when she chose life. At least not yet. Her journey is one of inspiration and her story is the truth of many other women who find themselves today.

In this episode we hear from Nallely Perez, a mother, a wife, and an abortion worker survivor. Listen to her story working at an abortion center and the listen to the why and what happens inside to people who work at these clinics. Listen to her story; it may not be much different than yours and maybe be the catalyst to bring about compassion to pray more and reach out to help those who find themselves employed at these clinics. Find out how she got out of that darkness and found herself in the light to help others be not victims of abortion through the organization that has fostered her vocation to be the voice of compassion.

We also hear from Maria from Respect for Life of the Diocese of San Bernardino who at the posting of this episode is fighting against the opening of another Planned Parenthood Clinic in the city of Fontana, CA.

Contact both these courageous young women to help bring about and foster a culture of life.

Sex with Emily’s Emily Morse is in the studio today to talk about finding out what you need before you can get in the mood, being present during sex, and why scheduled sex is actually the hottest sex of all.  Then: a twenty-something finds herself celibate after a herpes diagnosis.  And an expat is upset about her German boyfriend’s parenting style, especially when it comes to permissiveness about sex.  And a newly single mom needs help NOT getting back in the saddle.

The Doctor Is In - Ask Dr. Drew

The Doctor Is In - Ask Dr. Drew

The girls are very excited to welcome a real doctor to today’s episode, and not just any doctor - Dr. Drew Pinsky! In case you you live under a rock (or in Israel): Dr. Drew is a board certified physician and addiction medicine specialist known for his shows Loveline, Celebrity Rehab, Teen Mom, and currently Dr. Drew After Dark, the Dr. Drew Podcast, and The Adam and Drew Show (co-hosted by Adam Carolla) - busy guy! He is not to be confused with Dr. Dre, as Wikipedia warns us. You can find him on https://drdrew.com/ and all the socials.

Warning: in this episode we talk a lot about sex, drugs, addictions - all from a medical perspective of course! Trust us, we’re a doctor.

    In this episode:

    • Chaya Leah shares her origin story, and how Dr. Drew guided her through the radio
    • Who is a worse Jew - Yael or Dr. Drew?
    • Chaya Leah educates Dr. Drew about the Mikveh
    • Lessons about attraction and love from Fiddler on the Roof
    • Yael provides some Israeli context to sexual freedom - suprise suprise, it’s full of contradictions
    • TV raised me, and I turned out TV
    • What the heck is wrong with young people?
    • We will look at screens the way we look at tobacco one day
    • Even the French are making fun of us!
    • A detour into homelessness and mental illness (here’s a link to “The Great Pretender”, the book Yael mentions)
    • The Skid Row Run Club
    • Armenians are bros!
    • What Dr. Drew would have done differently with his kids (triplets!)
    • How Me Too and dating apps affected dating
    • What they’re not telling you about birth control
    • Why Israelis were so good at Covid
    • The orthodox are the only ones who had fun in the summer of 2020
    • Sex in your 40s and perimenopause - listen up ladies!
    • Why can’t we have a realistic conversation about weed (and who is smoking it at 8am?)
    • It’s addictive genetics, not addictive personality!
    • A mind-blowing study about alcoholism (involving drunk fruit flies)
    • A little (scientific!) discussion about porn

Catherine McCord | Former Supermodel Turned Author & Founder of Weelicious and One Potato

Catherine McCord | Former Supermodel Turned Author & Founder of Weelicious and One Potato

Catherine McCord wasn’t your average teenager. While in middle school, she began modeling and traveling the world to be on runway shows and magazine covers such as Glamour, Elle and Vanity Fair, eventually being discovered by the likes of Calvin Klein and Patrick Demarchelier. She was also one of the 15 original Victoria’s Secret Angels. Her modeling career eventually turned into a career in journalism, as she hosted shows such as Extra, The Big Moment, and Loveline. All throughout, Catherine always had a passion for food, so she decided to go to culinary school and gain experience working at various restaurants.

It wasn’t always easy balancing school and a full-time career, and modeling at such a young age and traveling on her own often had its lonely moments. Being a woman in the culinary scene in the early-2000s also had its challenges.

Shortly after graduating from culinary school, Catherine became pregnant and started a blog for mothers where she posted all the homemade baby food that she had made. Weelicious was born. As the blog grew, Catherine decided to write a cookbook and landed a publishing deal to make her dream into a reality.

Since then, Catherine has written 3 books, including her latest book “Smoothie Project: The 28-Day Plan to Feel Happy and Healthy No Matter Your Age,” and launched a company called One Potato, which is a meal delivery kit for healthy, home-cooked meals designed for the entire family.
