[Rebroadcast] Episode 713: SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE and Adapting Novels into Comics

[Rebroadcast] Episode 713: SLAUGHTERHOUSE-FIVE and Adapting Novels into Comics

Graphic novels may be all the rage, but the art of turning prose into comix is one many publishers are finding just slightly easier than turning lead into gold. From the early days of Classics Illustrated right up until today, Mike & Greg take a look at five novel-to-comics adaptations to get a better understanding of what works and what doesn't when it comes to adding pictures to all those words:

A People's History of American Empire by Howard Zinn (adapted by Mike Konopacki and Paul Buhle)

Do Android's Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick (adapted by Tony Parker)

The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair (adapted by Kristina Gehrmann)

The Giver, by Lois Lowry (adapted by P. Craig Russell)

Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children's Crusade: A Duty-Dance With Death by Kurt Vonnegut (adapted by Ryan North & Albert Monteys)

    The Distinguished Scoundrels: Episode 30

    The Distinguished Scoundrels: Episode 30

What happens when three comedians start a podcast with three different ideas of what the podcast should be... The distinguished scoundrels! Part free form interview, part love advice, and part improvised bits. You never know what to expect with the Distinguished Scoundrels.

In this episode of the Distinguished Scoundrels, the Scoundrels are reunited with the long lost Scoundrel Brent Lowrey. Dan has mysteriously disappeared and the only proper substitute for a Scoundrel is another Scoundrel.

Brent fills us in on what has been happening in his life and the abuse that he has suffered as a result of knowing regional slang terms. Colin is finally allowed back to The Comedy Palace and in triumphant fashion. Brian definitely crosses the line on stage and has to apoligize to someones mother on the show. We admit we are too poor for the Holidays.

FIRST SCOUNDREL GIVEAWAY. Tweet your most scoundrel event this holiday season with the hashtag #scoundrelchristmas.
