St. Patrick's Day Celebrations from New York's Dead Rabbit, South Jersey's Dooney's Pub, and Celebrated Chef and Author Ray Sheehan

Our first guest has accomplished a lot since he began working as a glass collector in his hometown of Belfast, Ireland. Jack McGarry began his career in Ireland and worked his way to a pub in London, eventually crossing the ocean to open the Dead Rabbit in New York. Since then, McGarry's desire to create Pubs that elevate the 'Irish pub experience' has found its place, along with numerous well-earned awards celebrating 'The Best Bar in the World.' How does he do it? By crafting an intriguing selection of menu items along with an experience that showcases Irish culture, history, and customs. However, the Dead Rabbit is not this entrepreneur's only accomplishment-but you'll have to tune in to find out more about Jack, what he's accomplished, and what to look forward to during the Dead Rabbit's "It's Paddy's Day NOT Patty's Day" events!

This week is looking up, especially for anyone celebrating St. Patrick's at Dooney's Pub in Delran and Voorhees New Jersey! Dooney's Director of Operations, Ariane Bonnes, joined us to announce their annual Kegs and Eggs in Delran, along with their other popular menu items that are fan favorites each year. On top of that, visitors can look forward to live music at both locations, dancers, bagpipers, and green beer to amplify the fun! In addition to their weekend-long celebrations, you can keep the celebrations going with their month-long cocktail and menu specials. But don't take it from us--turn your dials to Food Farms and Chefs to hear more about what you can look forward to from Dooney's Pub!

Our final guest is bringing the band back together again, and we couldn't be more excited to have him on! Ray Sheehan, who is an expert on all things Barbeque, shared his journey as a chef, author, contributing writer, and guest host for Baseball and BBQ Podcast. After what has happened since we last spoke with him, we further discussed the importance of mental health in the culinary industry and the ability to adjust and think on your feet. Which led to a huge announcement, that you'll hear first on our show! Ray joined us to announce some exciting news for the first time on our show! But we don't want to spoil the surprise, so tune in to hear from Chef Sheehan and what you can look forward to in the very near future!

It's all about the Craft, as Forged Irish Stout, Buck's Beer Bash, and Yah Brew joined Food Farms and Chefs Radio Show!

It's all about the Craft, as Forged Irish Stout, Buck's Beer Bash, and Yah Brew joined Food Farms and Chefs Radio Show!

Born and brewed in Ireland, Forged Irish Stout was created by MMA Champion Conor McGregor as a specialty beer for his Irish pub, The Black Forge Inn.  After its initial launch Forged Irish Stout was met with a positive reception, and McGregor decided to expand the brand, buying the collaborating brewery to focus on larger-scale production with the intention to launch internationally.  So in October of 2023 McGregor launched his brand inside Bartley Dunne's in New York City with a huge tasting event.  Now, you can purchase Forged Irish Stout at specific locations in NY, NJ, PA, and beyond--so grab one and taste Conor McGregor's Forged Irish Stout for yourself!

Bringing everyone together is what our next guest is all about--Buck's Beer Bash's Event Producer, Geff Rapp joined us for the 4-1-1 on this inaugural event.  Brewers and other vendors will be on-site for you to taste your way through a huge representation of what Buck's county and the surrounding areas have to offer.  What's even sweeter than a way to try so many beers at once?  A portion of every ticket sold goes to CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia).  So bring your bestie and share the beer cheer at the first annual Buck's Beer Bash happening on March 9th at The Fuge!

You'll feel like the King of Queens when you bring your F∙R∙I∙E∙N∙D∙S to check out Yah Brew in Hershey, PA, this '90's-themed brewery was founded in 2022 by Justin and Annie Hoak, and officially opened their doors to a brick and mortar location in the Spring of 2023.  If you're a fan of the 1990's era, you'll find this foodie-based News Radio show is bringing you a fun spot to indulge in beers, cocktails, food, and more at Yah Brew.  And don't go chasing Waterfalls; instead, crack open one of their Hazed By The Bell, a hazy IPA or an Orange Sherbert Push Pop (a fruited sour) and chow down on some of the tasty menu items!

Grab a Shamrock Shake and Escape! - The Fugitive (1993) / Derry Girls

Grab a Shamrock Shake and Escape! - The Fugitive (1993) / Derry Girls

The boys spread some St. Patrick's Day cheer and show the Irish some love while discussing a movie and a tv show. Jeff gets excited about a teenage girl dramedy that really is one of the funniest streaming shows ever. Josh lays out a compelling case for why you should RUN to see The Fugitive this St. Patrick's Day. The boys also do a little news, go on a tangent about movies that will stop your channel surfing, and find out who won the Oscar contest from last week! (Hint: he has a beard!)

What are you favorite pieces of Irish media or movies with great Irish moments in them? What movies do you have to sit and finish if you come across them? Let us know!

Everyone is Irish! Where to celebrate St Patty's Day on Food Farms and Chefs Radio Show

    Everyone's Irish!

Slainte to all of you, and to celebrate St. Patrick's Day we have three Pubs to bring you all the green beer, Irish-friendly menus, and fun on Food Farms & Chefs!

We first hear from friend a of the show, McGillin's Olde Ale House and their amazing General Manager, Gabrielle Rubery.  As one of the oldest pubs in the country, this local favorite has some fame of its own. McGillin's, which is the oldest pub in Philadelphia, has been in Owner Chris Mullins' family since 1958. It's so famous, that people travel from across the globe to dine and drink at McGillin's. On St. Patrick's Day the green beer is kept flowing, and don't be surprised if you find your future love when you visit.  On top of all the festivities that happen throughout the year, McGillin's seems to offer good luck to people's love life...and has seen many couples pop the question in their pub.

Speaking of festivities, we spoke with Dooney's Pub's Director of Operations, Ariane Bonnes to chat about how Jim and Mary Dooney started their restaurant & pub, as well as the menu, events, and how the couple gives back to their community. As for their menu, Dooney's offers seasonal cocktails, so look for their Spring drinks menu (out now), and since they are deeply rooted in all things Irish, look for some traditional items, like Bangers & Mash, Shepards Pie, and Guinness Beef Stew year-round.

Lastly, we spoke with the Co-Owner of Cresson Inn, Tracy Harding and how he and his childhood friend re-established The Cresson Inn as a neighborhood pub in Manayunk.  Originally founded during the prohibition era, the location started as an Inn before being turned into a shoe store with a booming speakeasy in the basement.  Over the years the business changed hands (and purposes) within co-owners Sanders and Hardy's families before Tracy & his wife took over ownership.  Now, Harding & Sanders are preparing to celebrate their One-Year Anniversary (on St. Patrick's Day), and joined us to let you know all the details!

Luck of the Irish - Zita Biehle

Luck of the Irish - Zita Biehle

Join Zita Biehle an Irish native, share her stories of growing up on the Beara Peninsula around the grounds of an old castle and fort!

Born in southwest Ireland on the beautiful Beara Peninsula on Bantry Bay. I grew up on the grounds of an old castle and fort that was owned by my grandfather and then uncle. The fort and castle were my playgrounds as I grew up. Spent over 14 years as boy scout leader in Ireland. Moved to CA in 2000 as met and married for what I thought was for life. Divorced now with 6 kids. Survivor of Carr Fire where we lost everything except my Paramedic uniform and a bag I grabbed with stuff from Ireland as I had been using it to help out a school in Redding.

Living in Fall River Mills now with 5 of my 6 kids, my eldest being in the Navy. Loving life here but definitely different to Ireland!!

Mom, paramedic, EMS instructor and Health coach pretty much sums up life now and I wouldnt have it any other way.

Episode 67: The Luck Of the Irish (6.5)
Grab your coins and regain your luck as we revisit the Disney Channel Original Movie, The Luck of the Irish. Mark doesn't know his family's name, was never in a trio, and adds a tragic Potato to our scale; Karl believes in a Lake that doesn't exist, has sirens blare when he talks about being racist, and apologizes to all of Germany just to insult England later on; and Sara explains the difference between boys and girls, has a real misconception vis-a-vis juice, and says no in multiple accents. All that and we share our family nicknames and our favorite palindromes. Enjoy!

    St. Patricks Day Special Episode

    St. Patricks Day Special Episode

Cameron & Jonathan share a couple whiskeys with Timmy from Sean's Bar in Athlone, Ireland.

Sean's Bar is the not only the oldest bar in Ireland, but also in the entire world, dating back to 900 A.D. Timmy has been a bartender at Sean's for nearly four decades - really just a blip in the history of the pub. But regardless, both Sean and Timmy have plenty of great stories.

You'll then take a virtual tour around Ireland as Cameron & Jonathan reminisce on each of their Irish trips - plenty of Jameson, Guinness, and good times!

We'd love to pour many rounds with each of you to celebrate our favorite drinking holiday (actually, they all are!), but as well all know, we unfortunately cannot. So Pour Another Round with us via this episode; we look forward to drinking with you all soon!
