    3. Because God is with you, this season is a part of your story not the entire story

1 Corinthians 13:12   For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. (ESV)

    2. Turn why God? Into What God?

    1. Ask God what do you want to teach me?

Hebrews 5:8 Even though Jesus was God’s Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. (NLT)

    2. Ask God what do you want to do in me?

2 Corinthians 12:7 or because of these surpassingly great revelations. Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. (NIV)

    3. Ask God what do you want to do through me?

Hebrews 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (NIV)

    3. When you can’t trace God’s hand trust God’s heart

Luke 23:46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. (NIV)

2 Corinthians 1:20 For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. (NIV)

Luke 23:39-43 (NIV) 39  One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!” 40  But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under thesame sentence?  41  We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But thisman has done nothing wrong.” 42  Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” 43  Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

I want to show you three things we can learn from this statement from Jesus’ final words. Three things that if we do them, they help us to get through a bad day.

    1. Remember why you’re still here.  Luke 23:42 (NIV) 42  Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.”

Luke 19:10 (NIV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

    2. Think Long term Luke 23:43 (NIV) 43  Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Psalm 30:5 (NIV) Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

James 4:14 (NIV) What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Hebrews 9:27 (ESV) And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment

Hebrews 9:27 (MSG) 27-28  Everyone has to die once, then face the consequences. Christ’s death was also a one-time event, but it was a sacrifice that took care of sins forever.

    3. Make the most of every opportunity. Ephesians 5:15-16 (NLT) 15  So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise…  16  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.

On Your Worst Day Ever, Forgive! | Herbert Cooper - Audio

On Your Worst Day Ever, Forgive! | Herbert Cooper - Audio
    1. Betrayal 2. False accusations 3. Rejection 4. Abuse 5. Humiliation

Luke 23:34 Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. (NIV)

    4 Things Forgiveness Is Not

    1. Forgiveness is not minimizing the seriousness of what they did 2. Forgiveness is not reconciliation 3. Forgiveness is not about doing what's fair 4. Forgiveness is not impossible

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (NIV)

4 Forgiveness Lessons from Jesus 1. Pray for them Luke 6:28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (NIV)

Matthew 5:44 But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, (NIV)

    2. Bless them Luke 6:28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. (NIV)

Romans 12:14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. (NIV)

    3. Do good to them

Luke 6:27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, (NIV)

Luke 6:35-36 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. (NIV)

Romans 12:17–21 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”  21  Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. (NIV)

    4. Do good to you

Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. (NIV)

1 Corinthians 9:24 - Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! NLT

Ecclesiastes - 5:18-19 – 18  Even so, I have noticed one thing, at least, that is good. It is good for people to eat, drink, and enjoy their work under the sun during the short life God has given them, and to accept their lot in life.  19  And it is a good thing to receive wealth from God and the good health to enjoy it. To enjoy your work and accept your lot in life—this is indeed a gift from God. NLT

Genesis 2:1-3 - Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2  By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.  3  Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. NIV

Genesis 2:15 - The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.  NIV

Genesis 2:19-20 - Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.  20  So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds in the sky and all the wild animals. NIV

3 Keys to Winning at Work

    1. See your career as your calling.

Ephesians 2:10 - For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. NIV

Psalm 139:13-16 - For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15  My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16  Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. NIV

    2. See your work as worship.

Colossians 3:17 - And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:23-24 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters,  24  since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

    3. See your workplace as your mission field.

Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15  Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.  16  In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that [a]  they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
